Are they gonna have the mechanical bull this year? I didn't get to do that when they had it here before. 3/19/2003 4:45:32 PM |

Here's my comment on AG awareness week...there was this cow that was rigged up to some sort of contraption...it MOOed CONSTANTLY AND! there was some sort of blue strap/cage type thing around its neck that looked a little bit on the snug side...the consistency of the cow's mooing and the apparent snuggness of the strap tells me one thing--this cow was REALLY uncomfortable. WHAT THE FUCK!! ANIMAL CRUELTY!!!
(on the animals that could move about freely in their still relatively small cages during their visit at the brickyard--that didn't bother me)

A cow is going to moo no matter what, they moo when they are in pastures and they moo when they are in a shoot or a head gate as stated below( that big contraption it was in) it doesn't mean it was in pain. A cow will be happy as long as it's getting food and the strap thing is called a halter and is no different than a halter you can put on a dog when you walk it. It is not animal cruelity, everyone that is out there with the animals has enough experience with them to know what they are doing.

As far as the Dairy cow that was tied up. She was in a head gate so people could milk her. That cow spends i say 95% of her time walking around and free on a daily basis since its only milked 2 times a day and it usually only takes about 5-10 minutes to milk a set of cows at the dairy unit. Cow's always Moo its like a dog Barking. If you want to try and milk a cow that can move around please try and when she kicks you and steps on you, You will know why she is in a head gate. Its not animal Cruelty. I am glad to know that you are concered with animal's well being. The strap as you say was called a halter and its what is used when the cow is walked around by a person out in the open. 3/19/2003 9:43:09 PM |

animal cruelty was an exaggeration on the situation...and, yeah, i realize cows moo like dogs bark...but thanx for the clarification. really glad to know it walks around freely most of the day as well...just when i saw her, she didn't look too happy...but glad to be more informed on the situation. thanx guys.

I just want to say that I got the biggest laugh from this yesterday. I'm walking up the hill beside the library and this guy is coming down and he gets really excited and he's like "LOOK AT THE HORSE! I LOVE HORSES" HELLO, if you don't know that's a cow, you so shouldn't be here. That guy killed me. Anyway, great job guys, nice to see some appreciation for ag! 3/20/2003 4:12:43 PM |
