You really can't slam the system. It's all about luck. They could have just as easily drawn a really low number (like mine), or a really high number. It's all luck. 1/8/2001 9:26:48 PM |

Do they run the student IDs through some sort of machine so that you can't get two tickets? Can you up your odds by bringing by a few IDs and standing in line for a ticket for each of them? 1/9/2001 3:53:31 AM |

They run your card through when you go to get a voucher. The rules said you can only carry your own ID, and there are no guest tickets. 1/9/2001 9:40:34 AM |

Well, I really think that it is a much better system. Sure, it leaves it to luck. I have been to quite a few games since I got here albeit not every one. I have never had the time to ability to camp out and I really think this system is the best for everyone. Hey, if you destroy the campus (idiots at campouts) then you really have nothing to complain about. Cya at the game. 1/9/2001 10:15:51 AM |

I guess the policy decision comes down to this question - Should the university use a system that is likely to be corrupted, or use a system that treats ALL students equally. The campout system and the typical ticket-distribution policy both had the scenarios where people only interested in one game a year can organize a coup to get tickets (ala the Florida State fiasco). True, "Hard-Core" fans could almost guarantee themselves tickets, but so could any other group willing to wake up early and scheme to get in line in the right place (this includes once-a-year fans). At least with the new system, all fans have a chance, and you're not going to be screwed out of tickets by line-jumpers and other scum. If you're a true Wolfpack fan, get your vouchers every time - you might miss a game or two due to fate, and it might even be a Duke or Carolina game sometimes. But if you try every time, you'll get to see far more games than any once-a-year fan ever will.
Remember - Come Early, Wear Red, Cheer Loud - Go Pack!

Sometimes the ignorance on this board is truly incredible.
Getting there early does NOT decrease your chances of getting a ticket. Everyone has EXACTLY the same odds of getting one, no matter when you go.
Why do people have such a hard time understanding this? 1/9/2001 11:35:24 AM |

I thought the tickets were given out in order. If so the odds of getting a ticket if you are first in line are very slim. 1 in how many vouchers they give out. Your odds would increase up to a point were the number equaled the amout of tickets given out ~2000/total number of vouchers
Do they give the vouchers out in random order? If so then it is equal but if it is in order then the later you go the better the odds.

The numbers wrap around.
For example, if they could give out 5000 tickets and there were 10000 vouchers and they picked #9500, they would give tickets to 9500-10000, and 1-4500.
EVERYONE HAS THE SAME ODDS (assuming there is no corruption) 1/9/2001 12:47:49 PM |

I would say that the true fans are the ones out there in line for a voucher. I'm not a true basketball fan, so this doesn't matter much to me, and I would understand if you ignored my post. I just don't like the fact of the individual getting left in the dust by Big Socal Organization.
I've said my peace.
