sponsored by NCSU College Democrats...
I wonder what they'll have to say about it.
Why don't they organize a debate between the Democrats and Republicans. 2/16/2005 7:14:54 PM |

I'm sure that could be arranged in the future, but this is more of an informational forum rather than a debate- partisan politics aside. 2/16/2005 9:10:18 PM |

this is a good idea
but I do hope it is unbiased
if they are saying social security isn't going to have a problem then people shouldn't grow
at today's current progress social security will start paying out more than it brings in in 2018
in 2041 ss will have a trillion dollar defecit per YEAR
I know I won't be retiring in 2018 2/16/2005 10:41:59 PM |

social security broke and its going to cost us one way or another. I think everyone should get like %60 (or whatever number we can afford without incuring too much of a dip in national gov's money) back of what they payed in and end SS now. If we are moving towards letting people having more options/being more responsible with their own money then we should take the full step rather than tip toe forward. With a % back those who put in more get more back and in some sense everyone gets an equal/fair amount back. But for Bush to say a 55 year old gets full ss benefits and a 54 year old is going to have to get less money (even if he has more options with it) just like the rest of us, it doesn't seem fair. 2/17/2005 1:38:36 PM |

No one seems to like my equal % refund of SS payments to highest point that doesn't too greatly imposition the state idea. I mean sure no one gets back everything they put in, but SS has failed, we could easily call it quits now and let everyone keep there own money in a fair way. (that doesn't drastically burden 54 years olds [or any age group for that matter] more so than 55 year olds) 2/22/2005 9:30:45 PM |

Social Security has been the most successful government program in history
Also the Presidents plan does not fix the so called crisis of Social Security:
The Washington Post on February 4: "[T]hose [private] accounts will not close the projected $3.7 trillion gap between Social Security benefits promised over the next 75 years and taxes expected to be collected. That gap would have to be closed through benefit cuts that have yet to be detailed."

ok lets re phrase then
In my opinion, Social Security was the biggest mistake that the US ever made and we are now paying for it up the ass. This is why FDR is the biggest jack off to ever grace this planet.

Your problem is quoting that paper.
