we changed the URL because we are trying to be more aligned with what other universities use for their URL. AND because reg_records is such a strange thing to say on the phone - try explaining to people wwwdotncsudoteduforwardslashregunderscorerecords 1000 times a day! 3/14/2005 6:10:23 PM |

i wish nc state would change their site back to the one they had in like 1996
i'm also sad cause i wanted to design the new reg&rec site but they decided not to use us
on a good note we did get the cashier's office redesign http://www.fis.ncsu.edu/cashier/
now we just need to get them to change that giant yellow button to a new one i designed that looks like it actually goes to the site

I find it very hard to access your info, the old site was so east to operate and this new site is very cumbersome and frustrating. 3/14/2005 9:02:28 PM |

I think you should have waited to release this after all the bugs were worked out instead of right before class registration. 3/14/2005 9:16:14 PM |

yeah your right, but still, they could have done what your Cashier's page did, and not show the ugly thing.
but atleast theyre trying something new. 3/14/2005 10:09:50 PM |

I think they did a nice job. Things like request transcripts are right on the front page. You don't have to go hunting for them anymore. It just takes a little bit of time to get used to something new. The only thing I can't find right now are the grade distribution reports. 3/15/2005 6:08:30 AM |

Changing something people are used usually never makes them happy. The question is whether the new interface is (functionally) better or worse than the old system.
Give a statistics/sociology/computer science (hci)/etc. student a project this summer. Have them perform various measurements and conduct various tests between the two systems. Using the incoming freshmen class during summer orientation as test subjects. 3/15/2005 6:38:08 AM |

The scripted page for grade distribution hasn't changed (if thats the one you had linked to).
Otherwise - click For Students or For Faculty/Staff or For Visitors and in the right hand column under Statistics are all the same stats we listed before on http://www.ncsu.edu/reg_records/stats.html.

we released the registration portion of the new Pack Tracks back in early Feb. that way students would see/use it while dropping classes and to make sure it could handle transactions. And so we could continue to work out its "bugs"3/15/2005 7:18:03 AM |

Please to fix 10-week course listings. CSC440 is a 10-week course but not listed under 10-week courses. http://www2.acs.ncsu.edu/reg_records/tracs_bk/sum1/courses/CSC.html
I nearly had a heart attack this morning thinking I was graduating two months earlier than I anticipated...

^ it would be very nice to see a VERY clear distinction between what is a 10-week course this summer and what is jsut a standard summer 1 or summer 2 class.
that said, and after looking at the cashier site...it would be so nice to see a consistency between all of the ncsu webpages. but i know that is never gonna happen..
serious about the first part, though. 3/15/2005 10:47:46 AM |

10 week summer courses *should* appear all the way at the bottom of the screen (if the job runs correctly at night).
otherwise - look for these distinctions
Section # 051 = 10 week summer course Section # 6** = distance education Section # 651 = 10 week distance education
AND 10 week courses will only appear in the Summer 1 listings.

Click on schedule of courses, link is broken. If you guys have a bug tracking system (like BugZilla), that would be really helpful right now.
Good luck Nicole, make sure you get some sleep. 3/17/2005 7:02:10 AM |
