2,775 students in the college. If 100 show up, $15 a pop, thats $1500. Can I make a suggestion? Find more corporate sponsorship to pay for the event ... I know its the first time around doing this ... but events like this tend to be a lot more fun when there is little / no cost involved.

agreed! The chances of a substantial number showing w/ a $15 bill to pay it very low

It now costs more to go to a movie for two adults than it does to go to that event. I think it sounds like a great event. Wish I were still part of the college. I like to dress up every now and then.

assuming that the same person that pays for both movie tickets pays for both tickets to the dance, then the price is not the same. 15 != 30. Would be lots of fun if cheaper...

The name was actually changed to the End of the Year Bash. A date isn't required and it isn't formal...just dress nice. I think it should be a lot of fun actually.
