submitted by firegrl23 on Thursday, September 1 2005 at 7:26 PM

In an effort to help students affected by the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, North Carolina State University is offering enrollment to students from affected universities in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama.

NC State is working to provide on-campus and distance education programs to as many affected students as possible.

The Office of Credit Programs & Summer Sessions will assist visiting students. Staff will be available to personally assist students through the enrollment process and to coordinate help with financial aid, housing, and other related departments. To initiate enrollment please contact:

Office of Credit Programs & Summer Sessions
toll free: (866) 294-9903
fax: (919) 515-4690
website: www.ncsu.edu/cpss

Many of the administrative departments throughout campus are also participating in these efforts. These offices include:

Department of Registration and Records
Distance Education
Division of Undergraduate Academic Programs
NCSU Bookstores
Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid
Undergraduate Admissions
University Housing

The Office of Credit Programs & Summer Sessions will coordinate all contact from students to these departments.

Current students: If you know anyone who may be interested in enrolling at NC State, please pass this information on. For more information, they can contact Credit Programs & Summer Sessions' mainline or me at Registration & Records (Nicole_Harrell@ncsu.edu).

Hey, if these people need places to stay, I and a lot of my friends are willing to house people until they can get a better situation set up. Is there anyone that we would talk to about this?

i have heard several students comment on being able to assist with housing. you may want to call University Housing and speak with someone. as far as i know nothing official is going on with student to student housing.

HELP REBUILD NEW ORLEANS OVER FALL BREAK!!

Hey!
As everyone knows, New Orleans has become complete chaos after being hit by Hurricane Katrina. It's a terrible mess all along the Gulf Coast, leaving people homeless, helpless, and starving. This has become one of the worst tragedies in American History. The young and old are all suffering, and I feel that we need to do all we can to help. Many of us are not able to donate funds, since we are all poor college students, but I still think we can pull together and help. I would like to organize a group to go to New Orleans over fall break (October 6th - 9th), and I'm asking for anyone who is interested to please join. They will need as much help as they can get, whether it's rebuilding, or distributing food and water, we can all pull together and help to ease the pain caused by Katrina. New Orleans was a beautiful city, and it can be again. I think we should proudly represent NC State and contribute as much as possible. Anyone interested should e-mail me at ajgore@ncsu.edu (919-649-0787) or at lemarxre@ncsu.edu (919-609-0685). I would like to leave after classes on the evening of Wed October 5th, and return on Sun October the 9th. As the weeks go by, this tragedy will be easy to forget, but rebuilding will be needed long after the water has been removed. For those of you who are interested but are not able to join, please contribute by buying gift cards to Lowe's or Home Depot, so we can purchase the supplies needed to help put roofs back over the
heads of the homeless.

Thank you!

LET'S DO ALL WE CAN TO HELP!!
