This is just an early list. Their are so many cds that have yet to come out or that I havent listened to and Im sure I've left something obvious off.

^ That remix is off the Silent Alarm Remixed CD that just came out
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000AL6W10/qid=1127143813/sr=8-2/ref=pd_bbs_2/102-0211319-0929720?v=glance&s=music&n=507846
Im also a big fan of the Club Mix of Tulips that came out on the Tulips single.

^^ Ive heard good things about that album and although its not my type of music Id figure Id give it a try at some point.

All the Wine is definitely my favorite song off that National album... it has such great lyrics.

I'd have to add:

1) Okkervil River - Black
2) Silversun Pickups - Kissing Families
3) Bloc Party - Positive Tension
4) Wolf Parade - You Are a Runner and I am my Father's Son
5) South San Gabriel - I am Six Pounds of Dynamite

"disturbing"

I have heard most the bands listed. The problem is most people haven't. I have never understood the appeal of relating obscure bands to good music. It's like you actually believe what Lester Bangs wrote: Find a band no one has every heard of and hold on to it until someone other than yourself has heard of it -- then drop it like a bad habit. It’s social satire. He was kidding.

I'm all for Sufjan Stevens, Sigur Ros, New Pornographers, Madvillain and The Decemberists, but it is ludicrous to not even mention Aqualung, The White Stripes, Gorillaz, Kanye West, Beck, The Redwalls or anything else relatively mainstream just for the fear of sounding too "mainstream."

Get off your high horse and pick up the new Gorillaz album, it may make you crawl out of your elitist hole and smile merely for the sunshine.

i think its the minority of music listeners who refuse to acknowledge good mainstream music in fear of sounding less cool. a lot of people who like more obscure bands truely like them for the music and not to look cool.

^^^what is your fav gorillaz song off the new album? i already listed mine...
