My advice would be to drive the speed limit if you don't want to deal with a speeding ticket.

leave 5 minutes earlier

if you don't get the speeding ticket, there's no speeding ticket to deal with

other suggestions would include making sure you're about 1 mph under the speed limit if you see a cop.

i go from 5 over to up to 9 or 10 over around cops

lawl

i've been pulled over about once every 1.5 years.
gotten 3 tickets
paid about $800 to lawyers and stuff for them though

maybe i should go slower

but it's so fucking boring driving slow. i feel retarded when i get stuck behind someone going slow.

I drive the speed limit. I have never gotten a speeding ticket. I have paid 0 dollars in lawyer's fees and fines. I get to work on time by leaving the appropriate amount of time to get to work. My commute is around 30 minutes. I drive the speed limit in the furthest right-hand lane that is not an exit lane. I find it hilarious that people consider the speed limit slow. I laugh my ass off when everyone in front of me slams on their brakes when they see a cop.

I'm just telling you this because I want you to know that it is possible to get to work on time and also not get speeding tickets. 'Not getting tickets' is my 2nd highest reason for going the speed limit. I get taxed enough as it is.

That's not to say I've never been late. Shit happens. However, shit happening is not motivation enough for me to deviate from my going the speed limit plan. If you seriously work for a place where you can't be late a few times then give yourself AMPLE time to make it to work. If you don't you're obviously not serious about your job. God I sound arrogant, but I'm being totally honest here. Those 35mph zones kill me, my car doesn't want to go that slow sometimes.

I've paid $500 in the 8 years I've been driving. Quite frankly, it's well worth it because I hate driving the speed limit.

I hate driving in general. I can't wait for the day when it's all automated and I can read a book or something. If only the greater Raleigh public transportation system was worth a damn..

I'm finding the amount of speeding you can get away with in north raleigh is leaps and bounds higher than around college town.

I got my first ticket a few months ago. I still speed though. The time saved by speeding more than makes up for the money paid in fines thus far.

I got a ticket for inspection being out of date. I have since gotten my inspection papers and am due in court 5/26.

Can I get out of this by showing up or writing them with the receipt?

^^ i would try going to court before your court date and when you do go in EARLY. If i am correct you dont even have to see the judge you just go talk to the ADA and they will drop the case for you.

actually i didn't mean to put the face in there and am not sure how it got there.

but i am interested in for which law firm she works.

Mostly i'm curious if its james crouch. If so go give him a high 5 for me.

No, it was Lee Turner. I talked to Crouch, but he didn't sound as confident as Turner did about being able to get it dropped.

doubtful unless you are speeding way over the limit for long distances.

that said i've only gotten one ticket so far (knock on wood) in 11 years and I typically drive 5-<10 over (less than 10 but more than 5). around cops i just match their speed appropriately.

excepts? you mean accepts??

he said he could get rid of it. we'll see what that means. as long as it's not a speeding ticket anymore I don't care.

yes, nash county.

1. Speed limits are, as a general rule, ridiculously, absurdly slow. We, in America, have an almost Puritanical approach to driving, too. If you drove in America how they drive in every other country I've ever been to (other than Canada), you would be thrown in jail.

2. Good for you for staying in the right lane. Drive as slow as you want there. I'll say it again--if you are in the left lane, you'd better be passing someone. It doesn't matter how fast you're going--the left lane is FOR PASSING ONLY...then move back over.

3. Speeding generally has little to do with not being late. I speed because I hate driving at silly-slow speeds.

I also don't really care if I get tickets. I think it's ridiculous, but I've pretty much resolved to just drive however I want and pay whatever it costs to do so.

I really hate when I'm rolling down the road and people will tag along, even when I switch lanes or pass.

yea, lol noticed it after it was too late to edit too

hopefully he gets rid of it for you with something that doesnt give you any points rather then just minimizes,

wake county doesnt have many ways of doing that.

If you don't think you'll get pulled for any moving violation in the next few years I wouldn't worry. I know I would try to get that shit dismissed with a quickness, bc more than likely I would get pulled for something with my luck.

The way I read it, after conviction of that particular charge (speeding 10mph or less over...)-in NC at least-any moving violation conviction in the next 3 years will count for both and jack up your insurance. That means after this conviction, if a cop on a bad day pulls you for 1mph over the limit or forgetting a seatbelt and you get convicted, you pay for both insurance-wise a min of 60% more than your normal rate. That true, nicklepickle? It's one of the special cases in the driving insurance code.
