Campus switched the outbound call button from 9 to 7 because of this problem.

Current annoyance: Install 2 new computers in February with 32-bit Win7. Get told this week they need to be reinstalled with 64-bit. You couldn't have told me that when they were originally installed??

It's a girl. Someone who is in charge probably thinks she is hot and/or is sleeping with her.

My office is an old converted Charleston home and the Heating/AC controls are in the first office. Sometimes that fucker leaves early, locks his connecting door, and jacks up the AC. I'm fucking freezing right now.

We have piped in white noise and no online streaming in this office. Sometimes it's quiet enough it makes my ears want to bleed.

You dont get to go inside the plane when you take the kids shopping with daddy for a private jet because the little one is scared and wants you to stay outside with them.

Yeah, I love the white noise. It turned off the other day for a few minutes. So weird.

Oh, 90% of the time, I love the white noise. Because having the white noise, and shutting my door = complete silence when I need it. But that other 10% of the time, it's when no one is working down on my side of the office, and all I hear all day long is the white noise and my office computer saying "You have a new message". That's when it's unbearable.

I'd be lost without my online streaming radio. Way too quiet otherwise and I already want to scratch my eyes out anytime the internet cuts out or is down.

I'm buying a docking station for my iPod this weekend. I figure, if I'm the only one on this side of the building 75% of the time, I can play what I want in my office. Then I need a mini fridge, and i'd be set.

I can see why they block online streaming, because it cannibalizes bandwith, but its still a dick move by management. Our pandora plays 24/7.

Our restrictions are more than just online streaming. They also block all shopping websites, all sports websites, "blogs", weapons websites, obviously the adult websites, social media, any websites that could be "job search", advertisements, and really anything other than TWW and the news. How they missed TWW is beyond me.

Now, I'm just whining. No admin rights on the machine, can't access the control panel, and a myriad of other restrictions. Can't even download firefox (but you don't have to be an admin to download Chrome). Any ideas how I can use a proxy with those kinds of restrictions?

My boss will bring me in on an email thread that is already 15-20 responses long and just say, "please fix this or respond back with what they need." So I have to spend 20 minutes reading back through everything trying to figure out what the hell is going on.

I do this all the time to people. I don't have time to summarize it when they should read the thread for details anyway.

you dont have time to explain whats going on, but someone else has time to shift through a long conversation to piece together everything. got it.

Yes. Thats why I delegated it to them. If they didnt have time to do it, then I am not doing my job right.

Look, once you work your way all the way up to middle management, you will understand what I am doing. Until then, back off. Now excuse me, I have an action that needs to be drilled down so we can find the synergies.

I'd rather see the entire back and forth as opposed to some unnecessary summary that probably left something out anyway.

^^ ah, the advice of someone new to middle-management I'm guessing (from a time vs work perspective). In a perfect world you can pass stuff on to people who have time to do it, but in reality you try and have everyone already productive for their 40 hours charged and stuff still comes up and you have to delegate it someone who doesn't technically have time but will probably get it done. If you always have plenty of people who have time to handle all the random emergencies that come up on a job, it probably means you have people sitting around somewhat unproductive.

But yes I too would rather read the whole back and forth because I'd like to form my own opinion of what the person is looking for if I am the one responsible for replying or taking action.

My boss is the opposite he doesnt care my opinion or how I perceive something. He tells me what he wants me to tell someone and expects me to do it in those exact words and if I change something to a word I find more to my liking then I am intentionally undermining him! Someone always has it harder than you dont worry

my boss is a combination of

Quote :
"Decipher what the fuck it is you're supposed to do then fix it, i'm too busy to tell you what I need you to do"

and

Quote :
"He tells me knows what he wants me to tell someone and expects me to do it in those exact words"

as you can imagine, this is often counter-productive

I've gotten all my work for the day done and I can't start my stuff for next week until the paperwork arrives from FedEx and they've already been here for the day. Gotta find a way to look productive for the next five hours

If you were to read your fucking email you wouldn't be asking me for information provided to you months ago, you wouldn't be asking me questions answered a month ago, and you wouldn't be asking people to do work that has already been performed. Motherfucker read your email.
