Trying to find the hottest wings. So far on the list that we've tried:
BWW - blazin'
Woody's - insane
Lynnwood - backdraft
Hooters - 911
Ben's Place - atomic chilli, which really was a surprise and may be in the lead right now.

Any suggestions for where we should try next?

Have you tried wild wings cafe in Brier Creek? I know Edwards Mill bar and grill has good wings too. I don't know how hot they get though.

well, I think the blazin' at BWW and backdraft at Lynnwood are very similar. If you're going to get them spicy these actually taste good, and the burning goes away fairly quickly.

None of the hooters wings are impressive in any way.

The insane at Woody's are not initially as hot as Lynwood & BWW, but they do burn much longer, at least 30 min of pain from those.

I went to Ben's Place Friday night and asked what the hottest were and got the typical, "are you sure?", but wasn't really expecting much. After the 4th wing I was admitting to everyone that they were starting to kick my ass. They just kept getting hotter and like Woodys took a good 30 min to feel normal again. And they certainly didn't make my stomach feel very well the next day.

I'm looking at trying that Chai's bistro challenge in Durham next.

I did try some wings there once before, but I don't think I ordered their hottest flavor. So I may need to return to see how they compare.
Buffalo's cafe is another I may revisit, I think I went there around 7 years ago.

East Coast Wings (it's in cary, so technically it wouldn't be in raleigh) has an insanity wing that was the hottest thing i've every touched my lips to. I've never eaten something so hot that it made me start sweating and made my sinuses run like that until i took a bite of that thing

^Yeah, I went there and was going to try it and the waitress wouldn't even let me because she said she didn't want to be responsible for ruining my night. I took her advice. It must be pretty bad if their employees aren't even pushing it.

I don't think it's that bad. They will let you order one just to try it out.

when i worked at woody's i always asked the people who ordered insane like 29384329 times if they were sure. because i had people that said they were SUPER SURE and once they got them they'd be unable to eat them and get mad. ughhh. but luckily most of the people that ordered knew what they were in for. i also sometimes would bring out a tiny taste of the sauce just because it burns a lot and i didn't want people to be mad at me for something they inflicted upon themselves.

there were a couple of regulars who swore by the insane sauce though. ordered it everytime. i never understood.

the best in my opinion

BWW - mango habanero (sweet spicy)
Woodys - medium (sweet spicy)
Lynnwood - special sauce (not spicy at all, just really good)

So that covers garner, downtown, and glenwood north.

buffalo's used to let you order "off the menu" hot, but I haven't tried ordering them in about 8 years.

left wings right seemed to have hot wings (i last got them when I graduated 4 years ago).

Can we get a conversion chart between blazin, insane, backdraft, 911, and atomic chilli? Any how many stanley nickels does each cost?

I've had the 911 at Hooters and I was not impressed. I've also had the hottest Wings from WingZone and it was also Blah. There is place by Duke called Chai's. They have a Torture Wing Challenge. If you eat all 10 wings in 30 minutes, they give you a shirt and wings are free. I did it and it was brutal.

Ben's Place atomic chili have been the hottest for me. I was drooling and sweating for 10 mins and went through a pile of napkins and about 5 waters-- will be doing it again.

Buffalo's off-the-menu was quite hot, but no Ben's Place hot.

Was disappointed with lynnwood considering they have about 8 levels of hotness and Backdraft hardly registered on my scale.

Love hooters, but because of the breading, not the heat.

Is anything else around here even notable?

Jax has some of the best wings I've had around here... they've kicked my ass more than once and I love it every time

if you're talking just straight hot, zaxby's hottest flaver (insane?) absolutely destroyed me once, but they didn't even taste good, and from my experiences the flavors vary in hotness every time you go

woodys habanero (insane?) sauce is awesome.. tastes really good and is pretty damn hot. imho, the sauce at woodys is the best around (that i've had)

also, wild wing cafe at brier creek... the braveheart sauce is hot as hell.

the crazy one at ECW is no joke. I have a friend who claims he's tried all the hottest wings from most of the places in Raleigh. We went and he got the one from ECW (after signing a waiver) and almost died. tears, drool, white face, shaking a little. he looked BAD. we had to go to harris teeter next door and get him some milk and mylanta. didn't seem like much fun.

oh and they make you wear gloves while you eat it so you don't accidently get it in your eye. thoughtful...

haha nice, went there for lunch with the office crew and my boss ate one in one big bite, i was surprised at his lack of response to the nastiness of it. the sauce looked like used diesel engine oil.

east coast wings has the best wings i've ever had. any time family friends or relatives have come to town my dad always orders wings from there and they all pretty much say the same thing as me. it's a little expensive but definitely worth it from time to time. the lime ginger wings are awesome.

Yes they expanded by taking over the ice cream shop next door and converted it into an actual bar. The few times I've been it has been fairly busy.

East coast wings are pretty good. But if anyone is in Winston and wants Wings the best I've ever had are at Waldo's Wings on Reynolda Rd. they have homemade sauce that is great, and really hot too.

i've had insane wings up in VA once where I had to sign a waiver... i ended up just going through more beer than normal.

well i'd had quite a bit to drink before dinner, then we get there and i eat and then do the wing. i drank probably half a gallon of whole milk, then puked it all up, but not before getting that god forsaken spice in my eye. after that i lost my buzz and had a stomach ache the rest of the night

I've done ECW magma numerous times.. no big deal... haven't braved up to the ECW Insanity yet.

on a related note when I was riding E-1 we went there twice in 3 hours for people who tried the ECW Insanity and started having abdominal and chest pains. Both went to the hospital. 2 days later we went back again for similar things...
