"HTC has fix in the works for EVO 4G screen sensitivity; separation problems are minor
By Chris Ziegler posted Jun 18th 2010 at 10:01PM

We've just been tipped off on a couple feel-good items for EVO 4G owners that should end your Friday on a bright note:
The glass separation issues are real, but said to be super minor and have no effect on the usability of the phone apart from a nearly imperceptible "give" to the touch. That said, HTC has made some assembly changes that should reduce or eliminate the problem going forward, and it'll keep an eye on the situation.
This is really interesting: the screen sensitivity problems are also real and are apparently far more prevalent in arid climates, but it can be fixed with a software patch alone. That patch will be rolling out to EVOs soon.
See? Told you it was feel-good news. More on this stuff as we get it.

"HTC promises fix for Droid Incredible's ne'er-to-forget browser
By Ross Miller posted Jun 19th 2010 at 3:33AM

In case you missed the recent excitement, a "feature" of HTC's Droid Incredible was found whereby the Sense UI bookmarking widget would take random screenshots of your web browsing experience and put them in a folder that's nigh impossible to delete, even after resetting to factory settings. Looks like the company knows about the issue, acknowledging it in a statement and promising a fix "in the near future." It also suggests a different reset to fix the mess, which apparently is to select "Format Phone Storage" from the "SD Card and Phone Storage" settings menu. Let us know if you have any luck with this and please, be careful about your browsing habits if you're worried what might be hanging around."

Anybody know of any adblock style apps that use a subscription like easylist?

Now that I have flash some webpages are bringing my droid to it's knees with the amount of stupid flash ads that are having to load

There's an app called AdFree in the market that works for anyone who is rooted.

whats up with the sensitivity issues?

only thing i've noticed is more accuracy than sensitivity...it can be super hard to select some smaller things. for example when on this site it's not that easy to select a certain thread you want to view (imo). i guess i just need to start zooming in before i try something like that

^^i believe that's added as a part of a lot of custom ROMs, or at least an adblock script is.

I did the same with my EVO (factory reset) and have absolutely NO ISSUE with battery anymore. I was doing every battery trick in the book to help the battery last a little longer and only managing 6hr of moderate use...now after the reset I'm getting 10 easy on mod-heavy use...awesome I was really questioning returning this bomb ass phone...glad I stuck with it!!

moderate/average battery life is like a day and some change though thanks to a lot of my settings.

My Eris is dead . I got accidentally got it wet this past week while I was out of town. I had turned it off and dried it out. I put it in some rice for 24 hours. I had charged it back up and it was working fine. However, the battery drained real fast. After it went dead again, I tried to charge it up. It did not come on. I went to a Verizon store and tested another batter. It still wouldn't come on.
I will probably have to go back to my Env2 til I get another android phone.
I didn't have insurance on it. I wish I did now. It's going to cost me alot of money to get another one since I've already signed up for another 2 years.

^ I played with the Incredible some when it first came out and I wished I had waited for it. Now maybe I can get it but it's going to cost alot of $$$. I doubt I could find a pre-owned one. I'll have to start saving now. I got my old Ev2 reactivated today. They took the data plan off. At least I'll be saving some money til I get another android phone.
I have no interested in getting Droid X or Droid 2.

I'd wait until they find a way to get it completely back to stock since the carrier doesn't have to support a rooted/modified phone and you're technically breaking your contract by doing it.

My friend's brother-in-law works for Verizon... while telling me about him getting the Droid X when it comes out soon, he also said that Verizon is having a promotion in the fall. To coincide with the 2010-2011 NFL season, every city that hosts a NFL team will have 4G coverage. This shit's legit.

There’s little in the way of proof that the following specifications are accurate, but according to one of Android Central’s “tried-and-true” tipsters, we now have the tentative specs for the Samsung Galaxy S Pro. Software wise, the Galaxy S Pro is said to be presently running Android 2.1 with Samsung’s TouchWiz 3.0 overlay. In terms of hardware, you have a WVGA Super AMOLED display (possibly the same unit found on the non-Pro Galaxy S), 5 megapixel camera with 720p video recording, front-facing camera, 512MB RAM, 8.2 GB of internal memory, and a custom 1GHz Cortex A8 processor. As for radios, it’s said that the Galaxy S Pro will run on both Sprint’s EV-DO and WiMAX networks, with a space for a SIM card indicating that we’re looking at HSDPA roaming for Europe and Asia. GPS isn’t mentioned but is surely a given, and the Wi-Fi chip will support the b/g/n protocols. Where build quality is concerned, the tipster did single out various components as feeling “plasticy”, although with the unit in question being a prototype, we won’t let that worry us just yet."

^Specs look awesome, except for the missing flash. My previous phones never had a flash, but it seems everyone is using them now, so it would be stupid for them not to add it. I like the Qwerty keyboard, but only if it feels solid. The Pre felt like it would snap in your hand due to the flimsiness. Hopefully the "plasticy" feel doesn't carry over to the production unit.

Really hoping they release this thing within 30 days of whenever Sprint can restock (and I can order) the Evo

I talked to a Verizon rep this morning. She was able to get insurance on my Eris even though I've had it for about 7 months. It was a 50/50 shot and I lucked out. I'm calling Verizon tomorrow to see I can get a replacement sent. I wish they could send me an Incredible instead.

Bought nexus one s few months back but quickly grew tired of it. Back to my jailbroken 3GS now...
Even running froyo, the nexus just doesn't work as efficiently as the iPhone does. It often takes multiple taps or gestures to accomplish simple tasks. Maybe if i had never used an iPhone before the nexus....then i wouldn't know how weak android actually is. Anyone looking for a nexus one on AT&T?

lol. yeah the verizon marketing people are tards. First it was a 720p screen, now the snapdragon. Luckily omap > snapdragon. It's funny that Droid-life claimed that they had a "source" confirming that it had a snapdragon.

Looks like the Super AMOLED displays still won't be as visible as the normal LCDs

Glasssss.... I really do not get the "multiple taps" comment. Are you talking about the soft keys at the bottom of the Nexus? That I could agree with... but if you mean the screen and/or the Android OS, I think that is bullshit and you perhaps need to try Cyanogens 5.0.8 Eclair ROM. You are bashing Android... but you are using a leaked OS that is not even a final build, how can that be fair?

This is when I couldn't be happier to be on Verizon, looking forward to upgrading to a 2.2 4G Droid phone in the future:
http://www.dailytech.com/Verizon+Begins+LTE+User+Trials+in+Five+Cities/article18801.htm
Quote :
"Verizon is the first major U.S. carrier to begin building its LTE network, with plans to launch the high-speed service in 25 to 30 cities across the country by the end of 2010. AT&T, Verizon's closest competitor in terms of size, is investing in its current 3G network and won't begin technical trials of LTE until 2011. That puts Verizon's 4G ahead of AT&T's by almost two years."

5-12Mbps.... ACTUAL

Just wondering what the first VZW 4G phone will be? Droid 2?

Quote :
"The trials are a key step in rolling out the new network -- Verizon's first based on GSM technology -- to the 100 million American the company plans to cover by year's end. Verizon plans to cover its existing 3G footprint with LTE by the end of 2013."

possible use of unlocked iPhone (GSM/LTE) support in the future?

in terms of Froyo (2.2) I've had no issues and swear it's the best phone OS i've used to date. i couldn't be happier

Droid 2 won't be LTE. They might release a mobile broadband card or 2 before years end but I wouldn't expect an LTE handset until next year sometime. I suppose Verizon could push things and try to get one out before Sprint releases their 2nd but there hasn't been any devices rumored yet. There are a couple high-powered androids that are rumored to be out near the end of the year though so who knows.

Looks like T-Mobile's version of the Galaxy S will be the Vibrant with a rumored release of July 21.

With AT&T getting the Samsung Galaxy S as the Captivate, and Motorola unleashing a slew of high-end devices on Verizon, we can see why you T-Mobile fans may be feeling a wee bit antsy. But no worry. The Galaxy S is coming to T-Mobile as the Vibrant (or T959 if you're into the number thing). As for when? July 21 is looking to be the date of record, though nothing official has been announced yet. Think you can wait a month for 4 inches of Super AMOLED goodness?"
