I actually live with this fear day-to-day about an ex whom I still care deeply about in a compassionate sort of way. Though she is doing much better than in her darkest period. But depression is a very strange creature, so I never know.

But ultimately it's just an expression of narcissism to feel that way. Best to let it go.
