I really don't know why they keep minting these fuckers. The Susan B. Anthony was trouble because it was too easy to confuse with a quarter, despite its subtly octagonal shape. No one liked the Sacajawea. No one* still likes it with presidents on it.

*I actually think they're kind of a cool idea, but quite pointless. Now that the state quarters are over, why not do a series of quarters with the succession of presidents, then put ol' George back when the run is done? If I get one, I'll use it and won't generally mind, but for example if I happen to have $15 in ones I can't imagine carrying around 15 big heavy coins instead of 15 bills that fold neatly into my wallet and don't weigh much.

I LOVE $1 coins - makes drink machines go faster and easier.

However I have had run-ins in convenience stores where it caught them off guard. I think part of the problem is that cash drawers are designed for the current currency. If you ditched the penny you'd have room for a new coin without having to retool billions of retailers.

My buddy found out you could order these online from the government with a credit card and get free shipping so he ordered a bunch of $250 boxes of them (come in $25 rolls) and got all the frequent flyer miles with his credit card and then used them as cash.
