What is this crap about Braves fans trolling? We've got Nats fans and Cards fans and even Rays fans up in here trolling on us and suddenly we are the bad guys. The only teams that I know that we openly troll are the Mets and the Phils for obvious reasons.

I give praise to the Cards all the time for being a first class oganization and extremely well managed.

As for Strasburg, he has had a solid season, but somewhat inconsistent and the Nats have given him no run support. The Nats as a whole have just had a bad season. Got off to a bad start and never really recovered. Strasburg is still a dominant pitcher when he's on.

Didn't say trolling, just hating on Strasburg. He's clearly a special player. As for the Harper incident, I really didn't see him "showboating" or "posing" after the homer. Heat of the moment got to both of them I guess.

I would worry with this Braves team that their lead is so big they become complacent through the regular season. They seriously have nothing to play for outside of home field and they will probably get that as well with their easy record and the Central teams beating each other up.

[Edited on August 8, 2013 at 10:42 AM. Reason : The 5 playoff teams this year are pretty much already set, so much for WC drama]

i don't see this team getting complacent. in fact i think it's the opposite happening. this team is out to crush anyone that steps in their way. you can feel the clubhouse vibe really starting to take shape in all the pre/post game locker talk.

so what do you guys think will happen when Malholm is activated? Do we take the chance and run a 6 man rotation giving our top guys an extra day of rest for the rest of the season? Or do we send someone like Alex Wood back to the bullpen?

^Tough question. Beachy got rocked in his first start back but other than the HR he gave up against the Phils, he looked pretty solid. Hopefully he continues to get better.

They will probably put Maholm back in the rotation and then work in spot starts for Wood, but also use the extra arm to get the other guys a little more rest. Braves need that home field advantage as they are tough to beat at home.

The thing about this streak is that it correlates with Maholm being out. He was pitching so shitty that it's been a blessing with him gone. Maybe they'll just leave him out until the team cools off.

The cardinals didn't have a hard time beating last year at home. Basically we can when anywhere but the west coast and Pittsburgh

^ He is not the future as a catcher, but the Braves will need to find somewhere for him to play. He's a perfect DH.

Sucks that the streak was broken, but glad they bounced right back on Sunday. Playing the awful Phillies tonight. Hamels is pitching so hopefully he'll continue to be awful too.

yeah Eovaldi pitched a gem against us. just goes to show even the hottest bats can be silenced at any given time when a pitcher is on. Oh well, we started another streak yesterday so hopefully we can beat up on the Phils for a few more nights and extend our lead.

I would think Gattis is capable of playing 3rd or 1st base...Chris Johnson's surprising year has made it difficult for me to think of a place Gattis could play though.

It would be nice if he had the ability to play 2nd base...

So the Wild Pitch was Gattis' fault. What about the meatball Varvarro threw or Justin misplaying that ball that lead to the triple. I would say a majority of catchers in MLB probably would have let that one through.

not newsworthy, but an interesting nugget nonetheless.

RT @BravesWebbGem: "Braves' entire rotation is making less money this year than the Angels are paying Joe Blanton."

^ LOL. That is truly amazing. The Braves are going to be paying a small fortune though in a couple years to keep Teheran and Minor around if they keep it up.

The only thing about basketball that needs to transfer to the diamond is that players should give up big contracts to play for a team that has a chance of winning a title. I don't see why guys don't do this. They are already making tons of money

Win a ring and get what you lost in endorsements and playoff bonuses

LOL he is going on the DL for Lasik surgery. That is truly awful. I guess they figure this will give him time to play some rehab games with his new eyes.

So Pastornicky got called up to play 2B I guess. At least this improves the defense. Uggla for all his striking out still hit some HRs and had a decent OBP.

Can FFF play 2B so that Gattis can play 1B?

Weird. During the rain delay Saturday night I was standing by the rails that overlooked the players parking on the 200 level and I was thinking how easy it would be to fall over the rails.

IIRC where he fell is one of the designated smoking areas. So he was being a jerkoff near the railings.

Also reported the family intends to sue the Braves and MLB
