The Moton stuff cracks me up.

Gregg Popovich has a better chance to coach us next year.

Moton is a good coach. in all likelihood he's not on our radar since he's coaching a low major. i'd imagine we're aiming for mid-major type experience as opposed to MEAC level.

[Edited on March 3, 2017 at 1:22 PM. Reason : basically, if Moton wasn't in our backyard we wouldn't be talking about him at all]

Moton is like the final option obviously, but he's better than Sidney Lowe. Honestly it'd be cool if the new coach could target Moton as an assistant even though Moton has turned down similar jobs.

Biggest fear with Keatts is that he's Gott v2.0.

Strong offense, strong recruiting, and garbage on D.

YET they have the defensive player of the year as a sophomore on their team. LMAO

Jay wright lost to mark gottfried. No thanks

Roy Williams lost to Sidney Lowe. Pass.

Yeah had we heard much news by this point it would probably be a bad news. No real shot at any substantial news (especially positive news) coming out at this point.

Guy that sits in with the team all the time seems to think Archie is the guy.. He's the most credible person I know, but that doesn't mean shit really. Surprising to me because I had written him off mostly.

1) Archie
2) Holtmann
3) Wade

Beyond this who knows. Deb would not hire Moton or Keatts unless all options said no.

Keatts probably is our floor candidate, and we may end up hiring him. Get Moton completely out of your brain. There is ZERO chance he's even being considered. There are 50 former high/current mid major guys we haven't even discussed who'd be hired over him.

I'd almost take Keatts just to despite my UNCW friends who tell me he'd turn State down, lol. They have nothing when asked why Wainwright and Brownell left for worse jobs.

Keatts and Moton aren't comparable. Keatts is very likely a legit option. Maybe not our first or second choice, but he's likely somewhere on Yow's list. Moton ain't.

I don't know shit about Keatts to know if he's overrated. But common sense kinda says Moton isn't a candidate...I like him, but he's probably not on our radar. Keatts, on the other hand, very likely is on our radar. I was just responding to Boozie scoffing at the idea that Keatts may be a candidate. Doesn't mean he's our first or second choice and it doesn't mean he's a great coach. But he's most likely on our radar.

has Keatts done anything that Moton hasn't? not sure why people are dismissing Moton as a possibility, if some flash in the pan at Wilmington is gonna be a serious candidate.

It's just the difference in level with Moton and Keatts. Keatts is at a mid major. Moton is at a very low major. Not to mention Keatts experience as an assistant at Louisville. I'm not trying to lead the Keatts bandwagon, because I'm totally not sold on him. But he's a notch ahead of Moton from an experience standpoint.

you know you're getting old when you can already smell the disappointment out of this coaching search. Been there, done that, going on five times now.

We should have just stuck with Herb.

I think he has
1) won at a higher level
2) recruited at a higher level
3) coached future nba players at a HS and college leve
4) recruited key players on a nat'l champ team
5) established key relationships with NC traveling teams
6) has history with adidas

I think Moton mostly goes after transfers and JC's and as ^mentioned, plays in one of the worst/lowest conf's in D1.

I'll take your word for it on 2-5. I don't give a shit about $6. And more importantly, I don't buy #1. They both have comparable postseason success. Unless you want to give Keatts credit for all of Louisville's success, for some reason.

You might not give a shit about #6, but it helps with recruiting.

As for won at a higher level, I mean he should get at least a tiny bit of credit for Lou success, but by just about any metric, the CAA is much higher level than the MEAC.

So the keatts haters...
He recruited almost all the national championship teams players that season.
Flash in the pan for the school? If they win today they will be 29-5, they won 26 last year...and they would have now made the tourney 5/15 or 6/18 either way that's not a weak basketball school
