Just wondering how much is average, and how much is excessive. Right now I have:
a 2GB Memorex traveldrive on my work keychain a 2GB PQI mini I-Stick I810 on my personal keychain. Super small. a 512MB SD card with fold out USB connector I keep in my wallet (yeah I know, not a great storage place) a 1GB microSD card in my phone (it won't take a 2GB stick) 1 2GB microSD for my mp3 player (which itself has 4GB internal, but I won't include that because it's not removable) 2x2GB microSD sticks for my NDS. One for my M3 lite and one for my M3 Simply. 4GB, 2GB, 1GB & 512MB Sony Memory Stick Pro Duos for my psp. Oh and I guess the 32MB one that came with it. 4GB SD card for the Wii 2GB Mini-SD card I used to use on My M3 Mini before I got the Lite. The 512MB Micro-SD card that came in my phone. Unused at the moment. 2GB SD card to store extra maps for my Mio GPS. 512MB CompactFlash card for my Camera. Yeah, it's time for a new camera, when I bought this, it was the big size. 512MB Flash drive in the shape of a robot. Some promotional thing one of our customers at work gave out. 512MB RS-MMC that came with my Nokia Internet Tablet.
I think that's it. 29GB Total. ] 8/29/2007 5:23:18 PM |

Right, so I have a 1gb flash drive, 1gb xD for the camera, 2gb microSD for the phone.
Why on earth would you need almost 30gb between 15-20 flash drives?! How about just get ONE 2.5" external HDD ... wow.
(or two externals if you want redundancy) 8/30/2007 10:15:13 AM |

Well it's not like I use all the drives at once. Most of them are used in various toys and gadgets I have.
I really only have 2-3 drives that I use for moving stuff.
I just have a tendency to carry a lot of stuff back and forth to work with me. I have a 160GB USB HDD but it's just so bulky. If I really need to move large files, I'll use it, but it's nice to always have several gigs of storage in your pocket. I really wish PQI made their mini I-Sticks in larger storage sizes. It's smaller than a quarter, but they only make them in 2GB sizes. Yesterday I wanted to take home a 4GB ISO so I had to break it up and put it on 2 drives. I really want a 16GB flash drive stick, but I'm waiting for a more reputable company to put out one, hopefully that is not so ugly.]8/30/2007 10:19:00 AM |

^^^You should look into getting a 2.5" external ... it doesn't have to be big, or new ... salvage an old 20-40gb 2.5" laptop hard drive, or buy one cheap, and that will would work great coupled with an inexpensive (or not, if you like) external case.
I personally have 2 80gb drives in cases and they still take up less room than a 3.5" external.
But I agree, it'd be awesome to have a 16+ gb flash drive.

Yeah, I just hate having to load apps on two computers ... work and home...
So now I can do other things when needed from my work computer, and still have access to all files from where I last finished, instead of having to rely on other backup/transfer methods. 8/30/2007 10:50:11 AM |
