Old topic has been idle too long. Making and new one and including all the stuff I put in the last one.New Item: Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka. It's been flying off the barshelves down here in Charleston. The distillery actually had to recently limit the number of bottles each bar could order because it couldn't produce enough to meet demand. Pretty tasty...basically tastes just like an icepick. I don't normally drink liquor drinks (and really don't like vodka), but I could drink this all day. Drink it with water and a squeeze of lemon. Goes down too easy. This is stuff from the old thread:http://thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=518998So I had a shot of this infused tequila last night that inspired me to make this thread:It was smooth as shit. I love tequila, but actually hate peppers. The initial taste was pretty awesome and although the hot/spicy pepper finish kind of bothered me...it was well worth it and really wasn't that bad.I've definitely become a fan of infused liquors. We make two really good ones at my bar. One is a Sauza Hacienda Tequila infused with pineapple, vanilla bean, and cinnamon sticks. We let it sit for about week and then drain it out and refrigerate. Really great by itself or on the rock...also makes a ridiculous margarita. We also make an infused rum with 1.5 parts Myers and Mt. Gay, .5 parts Captain Morgan and Malibu, infused with pineapple and vanilla bean. Also really good on the rocks (good desert drink), but our specialty drink is a splash of fresh lime juice, splash of coke, and soda water.I also made a thread on this liquor about a month ago and guess I'll include it again:Really good stuff when I don't feel like shooting the hard liquor. Gives you a nice energy kick, good amount of alcohol, and it tastes good. We run through about two bottles of this on weekend nights making just shots. But if I had my choice, it probably comes from one of these three:and if cost does not matter...then this:Anyone have any interesting liquors or drinks that you consume that aren't quite normal? I guess Jameson and Don Julio Reposado probably don't fall into those categories...but I just love them so much.[Edited on July 9, 2008 at 11:35 PM. Reason : .]

bacon vodka
7/9/2008 11:34:43 PM
if the bar stocks it, I can drink this all night:
7/9/2008 11:35:29 PM
Not that its anything rare, but its fucking tasty. Not nearly as sweet as most other coffee liqueurs, and much more complex in flavor.
7/9/2008 11:35:39 PM
^^That looks awesome. I'm going to take a wild guess and say it tastes like honey?? Where have you seen it carried before?
7/9/2008 11:36:55 PM
only bar/club that I have been to that has it is The Hole In The Wall down here in ATL.... its in liquor stores though. And its sort of honey tasting, hard to describe, but its really really smooth, no bite at all
7/9/2008 11:38:19 PM
Any bar with a reasonably well stocked top shelf will probably have it. Ive seen it at lots of places

liquid indian shot from alibi. i don't really know what is in it besides tequila and hot sauce. it sounds disgusting but it actually tastes good and has like a tinnnny burn after but not bad. i don't know. it is yummy. and not too sweet like some shots
7/9/2008 11:39:01 PM
^^^ there is something else that's more common, cant remember what, that looks a lot like it, has that same wicker looking shit around it... I had never seen in until I moved here, but you might be right.[Edited on July 9, 2008 at 11:40 PM. Reason : d]

an adios or its full name of adios mother fucker. pic is in my gallery. its a west coast drink which i love. no one know wtf it is when i tried asking for it here.
7/9/2008 11:39:50 PM
jbrick83, you're in Charleston?? I did not know this..But yes, firefly is extraordinarily popular here lately. As little as I have gotten out of the apartment since I have moved, I have actually heard a lot about it. I personally love it as small afternoon beverage. I personally add a touch of lemonade mix (like half a serving of those little packets of crystal light meant for a water bottle). Yum Yum

I've been in possession of a bottle of Dogfish Head Brown Honey Rum for a few years and haven't talked myself into opening it...maybe this summer. They're a nice brewery, but they've also got a full line of microdistilled liquors with various rums, vodkas, a gin, and a tequila.only available in DE, MD, and NJ[Edited on July 9, 2008 at 11:47 PM. I've tried the Grand Marnier Cuvée du cent-cinquantenaire (It's the one with the oranges and orange blossoms painted on the bottle). It was fantastic. It actually tingled my tongue like they say on Iron Chef.I've had the Don Julio 1942 also. fin bought a bottle and we drank it with 2 Puerto Rican guys we work with and their wives on Cinco de Mayo. Cool thing was that they had a little set of 1/2 shot glasses that we drank it out of so it was never too much to drink at once and slowed it down so we could enjoy it more.
7/9/2008 11:56:50 PM
^^^Yep, in Charleston going on three years.Yeah...the sweet-tea vodka is pretty awesome...but their regular vodka is horrible. They supposedly have a Muscadine Vodka that I haven't tried yet and are also going to be coming out with a Peach Vodka and a Coffee Vodka (to piggyback on the Van Gogh Espresso Vodka success).^The only other Grand Marnier I've tried was a vanilla flavored blend they were trying out about three years ago that I don't think they carry anymore. I just perused their website and couldn't find it. I did however, find some other styles that look delicious. I might have to stop by the birthplace when I'm in Europe in September.[Edited on July 10, 2008 at 12:04 AM. Reason : .]

Favorite coffee liqueur. Sadly it's not available in the US for some reason.
7/9/2008 11:59:24 PM
Oh, and I'm currently fermenting (brewing?) some peach brandy from peaches I got at the farmers market on saturday. Smell super rich and sweet but has the yeast smell mixed in so it's got a strong aroma of bread mixed in too.

^Absente is not true absinthe in that it does not contain grande wormwood. However I just finished a bottle of this, which is available in the United States. Not bad at all. A very enjoyable and quick drunk and absinthe true to form.

You people and alcohol.

A Vesper is very goodactually had one made to the specifications in Casino Royale(film not book since kina lillet is no longer made) and it was damn tasty best "martini" i've ever had

I want to get all of the dogfish head liquers... anyone know how much they cost?
7/10/2008 8:12:15 AM
icepicks are the worst abominations to tea and alcohol ever conceived.
7/10/2008 8:41:33 AM
Don't really see why.If you like vodka and you like sweet tea, then what makes it so bad? I don't really like vodka that much, but they did the combination right in this liquor. What makes it any different from any other liquor combination you might make (vodka cranberry, bourbon/rum and coke, etc.)?
7/10/2008 8:48:47 AM
its fucking awful
7/10/2008 8:49:40 AM
Bailey's...mmmmm creamyseriously though, i was reading about a drink that is supposed to taste just like dr. pepper.. something about light beer, bacardi 151 and something else?
7/10/2008 9:35:58 AM
^^to each his own.^Flaming dr. pepper.Half a shot of amaretto. Half shot of 151 on top of amaretto. Pour light beer into pint glass. Light the shot on fire, drop shot into beer, and chug. Tastes kind of like a dr. pepper. Will get you fucked up pretty fast.
7/10/2008 9:44:52 AM
i'm assuming the fire burns off the 151. so can you just drop a shot of amaretto in light beer and it tastes the same?
7/10/2008 9:46:21 AM
people say it doesnt taste the same if you dont light it on firebut it doesand the dr. pepper taste is relative
7/10/2008 9:46:57 AM
Possibly.....but then you don't get drunk as fast, you don't get to light anything on fire, and you don't get to call it flaming...

I always wanted to try absinthe. I might see if qntmfred wants to order the Clandestine one.I think the website said it cost about $80. Is that expensive?[Edited on July 10, 2008 at 10:08 AM. Reason : Add to my topics]

I kind of want to try absinthe, but doesn't it taste kind of like liquorice? In that case I don't think I would like it.Sheridan's is damn good though.

^read my mindalso, i make a kick ass lemonade with everclear...your favorite (pre-made) lemonade, koolaid powdered lemonade, fresh lemons (cut up), and sugar...all to your taste and depending on how much you're making. i make it either in a large pitcher or in one of those coolers with the spout. it's a good, simple summer drink.and when i was in fl, everyone loved bud light lime with bacardi limon in it...i never tried it b/c i don't drink beer...although i hadlast night and (yes, it's actually beer, not cider) and it was pretty good...for a beer

whoever posted the wild turkey american honey...good callsomeone made a cocktail with it for me once, basically just sprite and the spirit, but it had cranberries and orange slices floating in the top...perfect for a fall day drink at a horserace, which is where we were
7/10/2008 12:46:22 PM
I heard good things about Clandestine. If you're looking for a more "traditional" or verte absinthe, Jade Liqueurs' absinthes are pretty much considered top notch. Again, Lucid can be had for around $55 a bottle, and I found it to be pretty good (but I'm no expert). If you dislike licorice you will probably not be a big fan of absinthe. It is formulated with both fennel and anise, and the European versions are usually stronger in that respect.

I'm in Charleston, too, and holy shit that iced tea vodka is AMAZING. I'm going to get a couple bottles to take back to school with me.Sailor jerrys is my favorite I can get in NC.
7/10/2008 5:22:51 PM
Cachaca is awesome! I had it several years ago for the first time. I likes.TGI Fridays now has 3 cachaca knock offs on their menue that are pretty decent.I have to give Blavod's Black vodka an honorable mention. It takes just like normal vodka, but it's black so you can make interesting looking drinks and shots with it.[Edited on July 10, 2008 at 5:41 PM. Reason : black]
7/10/2008 5:38:59 PM
I think Cachaca by itself is disgusting....but made right, makes a great Caiparinha (sp?).
7/10/2008 5:57:30 PM
weird, I have a Brazilian friend who made Caipirinhas just this past weekend and what an awesome drink. Also, he had Lychee vodka. It was strange, but I'd drink it again. Kinda tasted like roses.
