0 being terrible, 10 being amazing
[words coming]
2008 was two thousand ways great for me. It started with me being absolutely WASTED down here in New Orleans. Shortly thereafter, I moved back into my pre-Katrina home; Mardi Gras was great, watching the Hornets take the NBA by surprise was pleasant and really embracing the city after only being "grown" for two months prior to Katrina really felt wonderful.
I met a great girl who, while things didn't work out, taught me tons about myself and how to manage all my relationship heretofore. I actually squandered much of the summer dealing with this chick, which helped keep 2008 from being a 10. Had I just accepted the writing on the wall and moved on, things would be different, but I digress...
I took a job walking distance from my house, and after nine months there, I got promoted after the job was only initially guaranteed to me for three weeks. Working hard and gaining the respect of my co-workers and management paid dividends where my scholastic shortcomings didn't. I got to knock off much of my debts incurred post-Katrina and basically lived off my tips. I can't take tips now, but the pay increase and a side gig should take care of that.
My boy got his website launched ( http://www.noyodesigns.com ) and the open mic night he sponsors has been a big success. I got really involved in local politics, which was headlined by the ousting of Congressman William Jefferson, whom you can google for the story.
Musically, I expanded my palate big time -- having entered the year with about 2100 mp3s, I'm now over 6700. It's been nothing short of amazing; while I always appreciated other genres of music away from R&B and Hip-Hop, this was the year I went and really took control of my listening habits.
I met my goal of taking 1500 pictures. Then shattered it.
I dropped some weight, I'm now at 223 lbs. and shrinking. A year ago today, I was 237 lbs.
2008 has been wonderful. 9.4 is what I score it, which was a better MPR outcome, a better game 7 outcome, and a more successful Saints' season away from a 10. 12/23/2008 3:43:45 AM |
