http://www.examiner.com/american-pit-bull-in-national/north-carolina-ban-to-kill-numerous-breeds

Quote :
"As of Monday, December 5, 2011 all “Dobermans, Rottweilers, Chow Chows, German Shepherds, Great Danes, Pitbulls, Mastiffs (all bully breeds), Akitas and Huskies” will fall under a new breed ban.

According to the Cumberland County mandate, “These dogs will be held for the mandatory 72 hrs and then will be killed, they will not be given a chance to be adopted.”

“If the dog is an owner turn-in, he will be killed the second he walks into the back.”

This ban will only result in mass extermination of innocent animals.

A petition has been created to try and stop the breed ban.

Lauby said misinformation on the Internet led people to believe the county will ban adoption of pit bulls and other "bully breeds," starting Monday, and immediately put to sleep any of those breeds brought into the facility.

That's not true, he said.

The Animal Control Board is recommending to Cumberland County commissioners that the adoption of certain breeds should be limited. These include pit bulls, Rottweilers, American Staffordshire terriers, chow-chows, Presa Canarios or any mix of those breeds.

it's sickening to kill a dog based solely on its breed and not temperament/adoptability

people should have to register to get a dog, that way it could stop some or most of this bullshit where people accept responsibility for an animal and then abandon it only so it dies. If you can't afford or have time/space for a pet, then don't get it. It's as simple as t hat. I don't understand how people can be so heartless to an animal they once cared for. You should be accountable for your animal and if it dies from neglect or negligence you shouldn't be able to get another one for several years.

I think dogs should be registered like hand guns

if you want to drive around in your suv with muffin on your lap, you have to have your concealed carry permit
