I was down in Kure/Carolina a few weeks ago and I've never seen so many Yankees in my life. They were everywhere. Especially in Carolina Beach. It's so funny to watch em carry on with one another.

As far as the actual beach is concerned, Wrightsville Beach has the most beautiful "mainland" beach in North Carolina(OBX not included) But when you talk about old school North Carolina beach towns Kure takes the prize. "The Working Man's Beach." You can see real North Carolinian's there. Everyone is welcome. Parking is free. You don't have to be a millionaire to have something there. Most times of the year its not crowded and you're free to pretty much do as you like.
