Everybody keep raising their prices. Ain't nobody got time for that.
Quote :
"To ensure the profitability of its new value menu, Wendy's tinkered with the lineup and in some cases, raised prices. The Junior Cheeseburger Deluxe now costs $1.19 instead of 99 cents. And for 99 cents, customers now get four chicken nuggets instead of five. The plain Junior Cheeseburger, which had been taken off the menu, is back at 99 cents."

Inflation.

The reason:

This is the supply of money from the Federal Reserve Bank in St. Louis, MO, from 1/1/2005 until 12/31/2012.

You can look closely (or not) and see that, from about August 2008 to January 2009, the amount of paper money the Fed in St. Louis had went from $900 Billion to $1.75 Trillion.

During that time, do you know what the production in the manufacturing, technology, and services sectors of the US economy did to account for that surge in paper money?

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

So, there was double the amount of paper money in print and circulation, and no gain in production.

So every piece of US Tender crap that you have in your wallet was literally reduced in buying power.

^5 that chart is relevant but not an indicator of inflation.

A lot of factors go into the overall money supply, not just bank reserves. We're not at a real issue for inflation here because of two things 1) deposits have been down (limiting fractorial reserve banking). 2) and banks are given interest to hold on to their reserves. This interest exceeds market rate interest, providing banks little incentive to lend outwardly and thus fully increase the money supply.

I hope this helps.

I was bitching about the Wendy's nugget decrease 1-2 months ago. Kind of sucks that you can't get a combo meal anywhere (worth a damn) for less than $6.50 these days.

I used to order turkey burger all the time from Hardees. Then I was like, man...this can;t be all 100% turkey meat. Tastes nothing like what I get from a restaurant. I think there are soy or wheat fillers in there.

This will have little, to no effect on me. I only get fast food once in a blue moon. Maybe once every couple months when I'm craving Chick-fil-a and I'm in the the vicinity of one (and it's not a Sunday )...or when I'm on a NC/SC road trip and I'll stop by a Bojangles.

A Jr. Cheeseburger Deluxe Combo from Wendy's + a Jr. Cheeseburger Deluxe Sandwich from Wendy's is $4.72.

So you get 2 sandwiches, fries (or salad, or chili, or baked potato), and a drink for less than $5.

I get coupons in the mail like twice a month containing coupons for Wendy's, Hardee's, McDonald's, Burger King, Sonic, Chick-Fil-A, Arby's, and occasionally Bojangles. On the occassion that I am getting fast food I usually just get a bogo burger or free burger with purchase of fries and drink. Much better deal in my opinion. I think the cheesy cheddar at Wendy's is still on the 99 cents menu though, which although I know it is probably made from plastic and toxic waste, is delicious.

I rarely, if ever, consume fast food when not under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs, and as such, an extra 20 cents here or these never even enters my mind.

I think when fast food places started adding "premium" items to the menu, those became what I always wanted. But they weren't a good deal, and they still made me feel sick so it kinda gets pointless.

I still consider myself addicted to fast food breakfast though. I haven't had one in a while, but it gets bad pretty quick. And, with the exception of a progressive toll on your health, there's nothing wrong with fast food breakfast. It hits the spot every time and never makes me sick. An excellent drug, I think.

What up

Fast food breakfasts are delicious, but they kill your day. Because once that grease enters your system, your though process for the rest of the day is in 'fuck it' mode. Its the opposite of what you'd expect, eating a bad breakfast and making it up by eating healthy for the rest of the day. Instead, you inhale that satty fat bomb, and you're mindset goes to 'fuck it.' You consider the day a lost cause from a nutritional perspective, and continue to make bad choices throughout. That 700 calorie mistake turns into a 4000 calorie fuck up that will take you a week to course correct. Avoid fast food breakfasts. They are not your friend.

even if i ate fast food a ton of times in a week, these price increases would not even make 5 dollars difference in total.

I really hate how restaurants response to food cost inflation has been to reduce portions. Not just fast food places, its happened at legit and chain restaurants too.

I'd much rather they pass on the price increases than reduce the food.

Honestly though fast food has gotten so expensive relative to other options and the food quality is so low that it surprises me people really eat it.

^ i'm the opposite, actually. I'd much rather them lower the already ridiculously large portions than increase the price. That way, I don't spend more and more Americans aren't continuing to expand their waistlines, a habit that increases health care costs for all of us.

Seriously you would think by now they would have done some study on the average amount of food people actually eat versus what you serve them at a restraunt. Just cut down on the portions a little to save money rather than increasing the price.

They don't care how much you want to eat they are in the business of maximizing profits.

If anything, they want to decrease the portion size while increasing the price.

Business types call this the ole double penetration theory.

When you give people more food, they tend to eat more. People usually don't stop just because they think they're full, they go for completion. I learned that on like 20/20 or some shit

^3 are you suggesting that restaurants can't maximize profits by decreasing portion size and leaving price the same?
