People sitting on Washington's schedule and arguing for UM who's SOS is nearly identical to Washington's. PSU got the shaft. Fuck the Luckeyes

Mich was stuck having to replace The ND game bc they pussed out. They beat colorado in nonconf play. Ucf and hawaii are going to bowls

Washington played portland state, idaho, and rutgers who might be the worst power conf team

Yea, almost the same schedule

^ Everyone knows the OOC schedule was weak, but it's still telling that overall SOS puts the two pretty close to each other.

In Washington's favor, they handled their business. Aside from the loss to USC, they didn't eke out a win against anyone else. Closest win was 7 against a good Utah team. Blew out Stanford, Washington St, and Colorado. They got good wins against good teams, none of those instances where they 'survived and advanced' against average teams.

does anybody think Penn St is actually one of the 4 best teams in college football...or are they just using the conference champ argument?

I don't think anyone is too upset, but a lot of people seem to be more interested in conference championship game winners and not who the best teams are. In the end this was a pretty easy bracket to make. Only 4 P5 teams had less than 2 losses and all four of them are in the playoff.

^yeah i was just trying to better understand the comment about "PSU getting the shaft". because, like you said, it seems like most pretty much agree they aren't one the top 4 teams. they just have the conference title to fall back on as their argument for getting in

^If they hadn't lost to Pitt then they would have been in and either Ohio State, or Washington would have been out. More than likely Washington.

Navy will be without their starting QB today. Maybe the streak ends today?

Also, at 4 pm today Eastern Washington hosts a home playoff game on espn3. Am I the only one who can't watch their games because of the red field? It bothers my eyes. Boise State isn't quite as bad.

It doesn't bother me at all. I don't watch their games though, because I watch enough shitty football seeing state play.

QB De'Andre Johnson, dismissed by FSU for punching woman, signs with FAU

Classic FSU, classic Kiffin.

Quote :
"Florida Atlantic football coach Lane Kiffin wasted little time making headlines in his new position.

Just one day into the job, Kiffin signed East Mississippi Community College quarterback De'Andre Johnson, the former ESPN 300 standout who originally signed with Florida State but was dismissed from the school after he was caught on video punching a woman at a bar.

The Jacksonville, Florida, native resolved the legal case by reaching a plea deal, which included six months of probation, nearly $900 in fees and participating in a 10-day sheriff's work program, according to the Tallahassee Democrat.

FAU issued a statement Wednesday saying it has done an extensive background check on Johnson, and the quarterback and his parents met with the university president, athletic director and vice president for student affairs during his visit this past weekend.

"The unfortunate incident that occurred in June 2015 that involved De'Andre has been adjudicated through the legal system," the statement said. "De'Andre has shown he is committed to using his platform to be a positive advocate for violence prevention, self-control and decision making. He will work directly with FAU Student Affairs to develop educational programming for our campus community. ... De'Andre is committed to growing and helping others in our campus and local community."

FAU also said that Johnson would work with the Mentors for Violence Prevention program to "educate, inspire and empower others to prevent, interrupt and respond to violence and abuse."

Johnson enrolled at EMCC, the school that was featured on the Netflix series "Last Chance U," in the fall of 2015 but did not play his first year. This past season, Johnson started and passed for 2,646 yards and 26 touchdowns while adding another 834 yards and 5 touchdowns on the ground.

Johnson is set to enroll at FAU in January and has three years of eligibility remaining.

Kiffin, meanwhile, will remain as offensive coordinator of the Alabama Crimson Tide through the College Football Playoff before taking over at FAU.

The ref didn't cause shit. If you're holding onto the ball so loosely that bumping into a ref causes you to drop the ball, then maybe YOU caused the fumble.

I don't think Fournette or McCaffrey needed to play in their bowl games to prove anything, but if you're an NFL front office guy, you probably think Dalvin is gonna want to play in the NFL and not just want an NFL paycheck

They all want a paycheck. And it's in their best interests to be the best they can be or they'll be out of the league and not collecting any type of paycheck. Love of the game stops at the professional level. He just might have more motivation to stay at the top of his game.

Love of the game doesn't stop at the professional level if you're an NFL general manager, evaluating prospects. I'm sure Fournette's and McCaffrey's agents advised them not to play and to be healthy for the combine. But there are waaaay too many good college players who aren't shit in the NFL to think that some GMs wouldn't view passing up on a bowl game as a potential question mark about their want-to.

It's a very minor intangible which might sway a team if two players are 'tied' according to their board. But it's not any more than that. If one player clearly rates better, the 'want-to' isn't going to get them picked instead. If want-to was special, Tebow would still be in the league.
