Bran is my least favorite story line. I just wonder how it will get tied up.

I think his story line is interesting but he is pretty annoying now as the emo three eyed raven.

All the stark kids are basically teenagers so they're all going to be annoying in typical teenager ways.

They each have story related reasons to be annoying, but would probably just naturally be so even without those reasons.

I don't think Arya is really too annoying, if anything I'm looking forward to a season full of revenge on her side.

Sansa on the other side (and probably more Sophie Turner) is pretty much a block of wood with red hair.

Like 80% of America right now, I'm rewatching the series, and I must say, some of the acting in season 1 hasn't aged well.

I hope GRRM also wraps up Gendry's story in a satisfying manner. I've always pulled for him.

I rewatched some of it. Watched the 1st couple of episodes of season 1 and then skipped to Hardhome and watched the rest. I got the wife to watch enough (with me filling in the holes) that she can watch Season 8 with me and not be lost.

So I get that in the book (from what I’ve heard) and the general perception the show’s trying to give off is that Sansa is smart and an underestimated force...but thinking back on this show I can only come up with one instance of her outsmarting anyone (figuring out Baelish last season). Other than that all I can remember is that she’s been a complete pawn, passed around, taken advantage of, saved in the kick of time, and been pretty fucking stupid for a lot of it

She knew ramsey would try some shit at the bastards and would never give up rickon

She saved the day at the bastards with the Vale

She knew the lords would turn on Jon if he bent the knee

She knew Cersei would never send her army north

She's been right like every time since she escaped from Ramsay hasn't she?

She learned from Peter who up until she killed him was the best mastermind and player of the game of thrones.

She also learned a little from Tyrion. Slow episode not sure what additional info we got we didnt know end of last season.

Jon knows he’s the true queen, he rode a dragon setting up who is tru queen/king.

need to rewatch was interrupted by a crying baby a few times.

I saw a lot of posts/tweets from people that were disappointed with this episode.

I thought it was pretty good, sets the table for the coming war. Most of these characters haven't been in the same place in several seasons so while we know facts about them as the viewer the characters do not.

Could have done without the Jon/Dany Dragon date the dialogue was cheesy at the waterfall.

The Umber boy scene with Tormund, Beric, and Eddison was great. Was the Symbol a play of the Targaryen crest?

It was a callback. It was the symbol for the cold open of the first episode that was in the snow beyond the wall. I dont see it as the targaryen symbol, too much of a complete spiral.

Now, that's a twist!

Was also the symbol used by the children of the forest when they created the Night King. I hope that we learn the reason for the symbol, but I doubt it.

The dragon riding scene was a little silly. I thought it was kind of funny when John and Dany were about to get it on though and he looked over and saw the dragons just staring at him haha.

Other than that I have no problems with the episode. Aside from it being shorter than an hour.

Thought I read the first 2 episodes were only the normal hour and then the rest will be 70-80 minutes?

Feel like the hype is so high for this show and the expectations are so lofty that it's going to be damn near impossible for this season to achieve them.

This episode was filler so people couldn't get HBO for a free 7-day trial, then pay for just a month. 6 episodes forces customers to subscribe for 2 months.

Was it really Sansa who discovered Peter's plotting? Seemed to me that he wore out his welcome killing her aunt and just generally being a creepy sleaze and trying to pit her against Arya, however my take was that it was primarily Arya that figured him out and got enough on him to convince Sansa to actually allow her to kill him.

I don't think Sansa is some kind of mastermind. I see her emerging as a Stark woman that's tough like her mother was, rather than wanting to be a dainty trophy wife kind of queen. All of the things she's "seen coming" are obvious af. Maybe I'm just a Sansa hater because her book chapters were torture to read.

When I saw that this was the only episode without a mature audience warning, I knew it was gonna just be a setup. I wasn't blown away by it, but it's still nice that the show is back. The rest of the season should be a pretty wild ride.

Did anyone else think it was way too easy for Theon to get Yara back? They tied up that plotline with a quickness. Also, can't tell if Cercei is attracted to Euron or just flattering him so she can figure out a vicious way to murder him.

Apparently there was a cut scene where bran tells them about betraying Ned

May have been obvious but Jon Snow and Tyrion couldn't figure it out

^^ i'm fine with them skipping things like not showing how yara and theon escaped, there is limited time left and they have to keep the plot moving and it's not a crucial detail.

__

we should make a pool for who we think will be alive and where will they be at the end of the series

I thought she slept with him just to have a finger to point who the father of her baby was. With Jaime betraying her, could see her not wanting to say he is the father.

I think they did this because the Iron Islands figure into the plot, plus Theon is headed north to join Starks.

the dany/jon flying scene felt like filler, but I guess it was to setup the reveal that she is his aunt and along with Sam's revelation about his brother/father made it more emotional reveal for his true parents.

it also goes back to when jon/ygritte were having a love fling and she said let's never go back, and then they go back and everything goes to hell. It's like again jon is being tempted to step away and enjoy happiness or perform his duty and confront the coming battle.

That scene was cheesy, but it seems like an important plot point to have Jon learn how to fly a dragon. He'll probably need one when shit hits the fan with him and Dany. Apparently the dragon's name is Rhaegal, which is telling in itself. Rhaegal stares Jon down because he is not okay with incest.

Speaking of which, Jon took the whole news that he's been banging his own aunt quite well. Dude didn't even skip a beat! Dany prob wouldn't care as much since she was raised as a Targaryan where that kind of thing wasn't looked down upon.
