I think the main thing was that no matter what, at some point, whether its erosion, people, or an accident, the zombies get out eventually.
I also don't know how to use commas.
Any zombie pit fall contraption requires passivity.
Attracting zombies with no help needed.
Killing zombies with no help needed (gravity).
And routing the zombies to their death without getting them stuck in any way.
Ive always imagined it being something on the edge of the grand canyon where zombies come from one direction. A noise making distraction is elevated so that thier attention is upward and they fall off the cliff or man made deck thing.
Problem with a quarry is that it will kill them initially. But at some point, they stop getting hurt when enough of them pile up. Not a long enough fall. And then you're just going to get a another horde. 10/13/2015 4:57:55 PM |

500 rds of .22LR ammunition come in a box no bigger than 4" on any edge. enough ammo to pick off the whole horde one at a time will fit in a grocery sack. me and a buddy can wipe out a whole box, sometimes 2 boxes, at the range in just a few hours. any hilljack can hit a beer can at 25 yards. penetration would not be an issue on these mushy zombies. hell, morgan is taking them out just by smacking them in the head with a stick.
get up on the tractor trailers and start shooting. horde problem is solved in an afternoon and the alexandrians get target practice. 10/13/2015 9:21:50 PM |

What was up with the zombie heads exploding by the Alexandria wall as some turned the corner? I couldn't tell if someone was sniping them from somewhere higher or the pressure of the horde was smashing their heads against the wall. 10/13/2015 11:13:16 PM |

^they do, and they should. However, I feel like they're not making most of them any weaker. The walker that killed Carter was all skin and bones. Seriously, how was he not able to fight that zombie off? 10/14/2015 8:46:50 AM |

Good point. At this point in the show it's been like 4 years right? People should be able to literally just pull their arms off and stuff by now? I guess maybe the virus somehow preserves them longer than normal?
On the point of the ammo though, they'd still have to find it, right? I feel like they are currently in a "use whatever they can find" situation. The folks at Alexandria can't even stab a zombie let alone make ammo so they clearly aren't any help and Rick & co. have been on the move since the prison. None of his group has ever shown any skills when it comes to making ammo that I can recall so it might just be a matter of it not readily being available. Or if they do have it, they may wanna just save their bullets for a bigger threat -- thousands of rounds on zombies or thousands of rounds on wolves. 10/14/2015 9:09:36 AM |

i assume most of the original zombies have long been killed-off or reduced to piles of skin of bones, and a lot of the zombies they now encounter are third/fourth/fifth generation zombies.10/14/2015 12:27:47 PM |

^Really just depends on where the zombies are, but yeah in the VA and GA areas I would expect a lot of breakdown/rotting of the corpses.
Interesting theory though, I know the conventional logic is that colder areas will preserve the bodies better, but how long would one have to survive until walkers are rotted to the point of being unable to walk? At what points does the body deteriorate to the point they just die "of natural causes"? I mean if a headshot kills them by destroying the brain, how long until the brains breakdown enough to the point that they die? I doubt it would get to a point where it was just bones walking around. 10/14/2015 12:52:46 PM |

i've really enjoyed the detail of the walkers aging as the show goes on. it definitely adds a tad bit of realism to the show.
I've never really thought about the third/fourth/fifth generation zombies. My guess would be that the first and second waves are responsible for most zombies out there, having killed almost everyone. Then the few survivors became a third and an even smaller set a 4th (since there were fewer people and those around know how stop the deceased from turning.).
You'd think giving the numbers that are killed and the numbers that decompose beyond being able to do much that after a turning point it'd get easier to survive, ignoring the fact that humans are becoming more of a threat in that same time period. 10/14/2015 1:32:06 PM |

I wonder how many of the current zombies are just from people who aren't tough enough to survive in general. People who starved, died of thirst, etc. and just died naturally anyway and reanimated. 10/14/2015 1:37:55 PM |

^I would say a good portion. It seems like when a group of zombies attack someone, they don't leave much left as far as being able to become a walker themselves. So someone would have to get bitten but not have the zombie feast on them so they're structurally sound enough to become a walker themselves. 10/14/2015 3:50:40 PM |

Time on the show passes way slower than the seasons suggest. I think they've had winter once. (frozen marsh allowed zombies to get to farm)
On talking dead they suggested its only been 2 years. But its almost perpetually summer it seems.
So its definitely not 4 years. I would say between 1 and 2.
But then again, they were wearing coats in the season 5 finale when porch dick got killed. A few weeks/days later in season 6 its not that cold. Maybe its fall. 10/14/2015 4:55:30 PM |

now, the horde was probably drawn by the wolves, but how did they know right then that ricks group was up to something? seems a little too convenient, it could be stupid kid
I think if its the wolves, rick and co will fight and kill them, but now you have the horde, and the walls came tumbling down, its gonna be outright carnage in the streets,
and carol is still going to be playing miss doubtfire and be all like "watch it, you could put someone's eye out with that thing!!"

Any thoughts on what happens with the horde?
Do they breach the walls? I mean, if everyone hunkers down in the houses while the horde invades Alexandria it creates a really interesting scenario.
But, its the 2nd episode of the new season.
I cant imagine the wolves actually engaging the Alexandrians yet. More like they throw the zombies or something at them somehow and back off to see how it shakes out. Testing them maybe.
For me its going to get progressively more annoying if Rick and crew never get a chance to catch their breath this season. I always always always want the show to explore trying to build up something vs it all going to hell over and over.

Only question
What was the letter 'A' on the stairs up to the house when Carol has the cigarettes?
Was the compound scouted out before hand? Was it the chick that left?
She says something about blind spots and 'thats how we were able to' and gets cutoff.
Might be a wolf

Could have something to do with Terminus and the rail car they were put in. Same thing with the Wolves - possibly they were "chosen / did not choose" and got out but with the mentality to do whatever it takes to survive. "Just Survive Somehow".

So I guess Ron is the new Khorl (whiny pain in the ass)? Hopefully that means Khorl won't be so Khorl anymore.
The girl definitely could be a Wolf, I mean she used to go outside the walls all the time for no apparent reason. But maybe that's a red herring.
We've seen the "A" symbol before, right? I thought I remembered one of the little kids trying to stamp Carol's hand or something like that. I was thinking it was "A for Alexandria," but don't have anything to base that on. Maybe it's more significant. 10/19/2015 10:52:45 AM |

speaking of unexplained letters, what was up with the JSS or whatever the name of the episode was, that the girl formed the turtle bones in the shape of, then scratched/drew on her hand as she was about to enter Alexandria? Did they ever say? Her dead family members' initials or something? 10/19/2015 12:16:57 PM |

Possibly. But when the gay guy found his pack at the end of the episode on the dead attacker that had his pics in that he would show people to prove Alexandria was real, I think that was to show how the wolves found them. IIRC, he lost that pack at the warehouse that had all the zombies in the semis as a trap. So he felt responsible for causing the attack.
Thats how I took it anyway

I agree that was a really good episode.
I don't believe the girl was a wolf. We saw much of her backstory and at no point was she sporting a W and she looked genuinely surprised when she heard voices outside of the barriers. If she was a wolf, she would have gone and reported to the home base where they were rather than go straight in. I also think that the rucksack with the Alexandria photos helped solidify that assumption.
My guess is next week we only see rick and team and what they experienced during the remaining 30 minutes or so of the battle (they showed us that it was only 55 minutes based on the dish being prepared and i thought that was a really cool technique). It'll likely be everything post horn going off.
I'm very curious what happens with the gun that the wolf acquired. Part of me hopes it is used to kill Morgan. It'll definitely show up again but without a supply of bullets, I'm not certain how much damage he could actually do. 10/20/2015 12:31:41 PM |

I read the "You can't, can you?" as showing that Morgan's thing isn't a philosophy: It's an inability. I think this jibes with what we know of his character (his inability to kill his zombie wife in the past). It's like the Herschel thing; it's not that he doesn't want to kill them. He literally can't perceive them as anything but humans worthy of life...except for him the monsters are murderers not zombies.

Episode 1: A team managing zombie horde Episode 2: B team repelling wolves Episode 3: A team hoofing it back to Alexandria Episode 4: C team? Motorcycle and Car make there way as planned with part of the horde but will have a hell of a time getting back to Alexandria with zombies spread out so much. That thread probably lasts 2-3 episodes.
Episode 5: B team and A team or some of A team reuniting. Episode 6: Coordination on going after wolves?
It will be interesting to see if they can all talk to each other with radios. 10/21/2015 10:22:19 AM |

Week 1: Zombie herding. Week 2: Wolves attack. Week 3: Everyone back, horde approaching. Week 4: Horde attack. Week 5: Wolves come back for revenge. Week 6: Finishing up Wolves/Horde story, setting up for next season.
I doubt they're able to get the horde back on their little path, at least not all of them, it appeared a huge chunk broke off when the horn was blaring, so could see at least a mini-horde now moving towards the sound. 10/21/2015 10:37:14 AM |

Yea, that's right. They will have to deal with it. They will essentially be surrounded with the horde thrown to the wind. Wont move predictably either. The horde will probably take care of a lot of the wolves and leave a core group left.
If the horde shows up, they might be able to just sit there and let them move on by like they did at the corner of the walker path............but there is probably no way they let them just walk by.
The gate seems to be weak point. 10/21/2015 10:50:55 AM |

So they clearly cut off the horn before the zombies got there. If they just barricade everything up as best as they can and remain quiet and inside the walls, what reason will the zombies have to pile up outside and try to get in? If they don't know anyone is there, wouldn't they just wander around outside with the occasional zombie bumping into the wall? 10/22/2015 5:32:37 PM |
