Seems to be whenever anyone comes to "terms" with their situation or seems to find "peace" with everything, shortly after they die. The most recent to have one of those moments was Abraham, before that it was Bob and Beth.

Well as a writer of the show, you want to add new characters to keep things interesting but not add too many to water down things, so you introduce groups and then it introduces more fodder to kill off and you get to keep 1-2 characters.

We've just added a bunch of people from Alexandria, so not as much of a rush to kill off Abraham's group.

Just to be super nit-picky...someone else would have had to inflate those balloons they found within a couple days before right?

^that was my thought. originally I thought Glenn would see it as a trap but instead he was like "oh hey, we've totally got time to fill up some more, kid - have at it!"

maybe that guy Morgan was holding escaped and tipped the tower somehow? rammed into it, bombed it, car jack?

what's Khorl's douchey little friend up to?

Maybe they were using the balloons as part of their herding the herd plan? Glenn seemed to already know there was a helium tank in the bushes and more supplies.

one thing I've never gotten in this show is how they can use jawless walkers to wade through crowds of zombies or cover themselves in zombie guts and move around undetected. why wouldn't they either chain up a bunch of jawless walkers around Alexandria or paint the walls in guts to basically stay invisible to the herds?

I'm thinking the balloons are a "totem", just like Inception. Instead of a top spinning forever the balloons never lose helium, meaning this is all a dream and Glenn is really dead.

^^^ yeah... they put the balloons there, they marked the checkpoints in their herding plan.

^^ the zombie camo wouldn't work to make the herd ignore alexandria, it would just draw more zombies there with the noise. This only works to disguise the motion/sound of a human from other zombies.

Seemed pretty obvious... i suppose there is some mechanism though that could cause a building to fall like that. Maybe they had heavy stuff on that side or something, and then a gust of wind blew it over. Either way, i'd have assumed that tube steel would have held up better.

Wouldn't that tower have broken up on the way down, at the very least? Or imploded in on itself?

Carl's friend will be seen shooting zombies after they come inside, and then when the dust settles he'll be questioned. Or he'll try to shoot Carl in the melee once the wall comes down.

Who do we consider the original group now? Because if we want to get picky, only Rick, Carol, Glenn and Carl are left from the original group. Even Maggie was picked up later.

They did a good job of foreshadowing the failure of the tower by showing cracking throughout the episode. Plus Rick was recycling boards from it for his wall reinforcement. I think I heard a gunshot right before it fell. I need to rewatch to confirm.

How did douchebag get so far along his grapple line without anyone seeing in broad daylight?

No building teeter totters over. They also don't just start shedding boards for no reason. Forshadowing sure.

The fence wouldn't have buckled so badly either. The house would not have flattened the fence and you have crumbled more if it was so damn heavy. It would have clogged the hole in the fence it made with itself.

It will be interesting to see how morgan wolf carol and wimpy medic get along. Trapped with each other?

That wolf is going to kill someone. Medic lady made a quick list for injuries. I bet she eats it, Maggie takes over medic duties being preggers and from a farm. Uses cheat sheet.

This season is very frustrating because the entirety of it is based on thay they don't have time to plan anything out.

Makes for good ratings though. I mean look at how many people complained as soon as we got to morgans backstory.

Meh, I'm fine with stories developing with main characters, we don't need threats or zombie attacks every episode to have a great show. I thought the Morgan episode sucked because...the episode just sucked. It was 90 minutes of watching a hardcore killer turn into a pacifist with a stick and then his great master died in a completely ridiculous way that was laughably bad.

One of the more interesting angles in post-apocalyptic shows is human interaction and how society breaks down as a whole. The problem comes when you stop introducing characters that can drive interesting storylines.

You add Abraham's Crew to drive the whole "we have a cure, we gotta get to DC!" angle, but they never really invested much in the characters before moving on to the next storyline and revealing that "mission" to be a farce.

We add a bunch of characters in the whole "hospital"/Beth storyline, just to end up using it as a plot vehicle to get the crew to Richmond and see the first sign of "The Wolves" and kill the only new member from that group.

Now we add Alexandria folks, large-in-part to give our group somewhere to stay put for a while and give more zombie fodder. They could have easily had a power-struggle inside but that really got squashed when all the residents realized they couldn't protect themselves so it basically turned into a Ricktatorship.

Now for some midseason finale where we see the main group reunited, some Alexandria folks die, and some cliffhanger where we think one of our beloved main characters may be bitten, dead, or kidnapped.

1) it would have fallen the opposite way because the truck hit the opposite side and weakened the side away from the fence.

2) The truck rammed straight into the fence. I dont think the house even got hit now that I think about it.

3) Buildings are tied together on all 4 sides. There was a rip down the top side of it. I dont know why thats there and they havent explained it. But they never show why the house fell. Just that boards randomly fell of cause buildings shed boards.

Conclusion

Weak

But its just be trying to deal with the fact that these perfectly good walls got torn down and no planning could have prevented it.

Yeah quite disappointed in that midseason finale, just left literally everything in a cliffhanger-like state. I guess that means that premiere episode is going to be nuts.

On the post-credits clip...if they all clearly saw this group of bikers sitting in the middle of the road, heavily armed, why didn't they stop or try to turn around or make some type of plan? I mean one well-placed RPG would have basically ended the conversation before it began. In what situation, given their experience with survivors, would they possibly think those guys would be "good" guys?

How is there any red, oxygenated blood left in any of these corpses?

Why do you need a lock to open any kind of door in suburban America. I have yet to see a door in a house that can't be kicked in. I mean, it isn't like they were afraid of the noise...they were going to shoot it.

When Abraham returns, I expect him to blow up Rick and company with an RPG. He won't know the difference since they are disguised so well.

So have we always had these "mid season breaks" in shows such as sitcoms, and networks usually just fill in the blanks with reruns?

Glad they stayed true to that scene.

And damn if Glenn isn't running out of his 9 lives. The timing of people arriving at the "right place, right time" was a bit too much.

Don't want any spoilers, but I assume that's not the last we'll see of Negan's gang? (of course, it'll be the last time we see those particular members)

spoilers

I always underestimate how fast this show moves past the situations causing the problem. For example episode 1 season 6, we are introduced to the horde and see the attempted solution and fallout all in one episode. This one, the overrun town, the wolf, Negan's gang are ALL taken care of at in one sitting!

Not to mention the chewing up of cast members.

Gives a lot of breathing room to setup whatever is coming next.

Good start. But I mean the beginning of season 6 had the best 3 episode span that I have ever seen.

I thought too many implausible things happened this episode.

^ instead of doing that, they should try to find a better way to do the pacing... people complain the first half moved too slow, then this big episode.

I've almost quit this show a few times and my expectations were pretty low for last night's episode.

But that scene was crazy... a whole family was wiped out just like that. I don't know why that bothered me, but it really did. Just like that they were all gone.

I really dug the mom... Jesse. Her two boys, not so much.

Now it's time for Judith to go. I'd like to see that toddler pulled apart like a smoked chicken.
