so basically, in terms of NFL talent, his last 3 recruiting classes have thus far netted Amerson, D. Johnson, Palmer (who's only been on practice squads) and some guys hoping to stick as UDFAs. we've got a few left on the roster like Grinnage or Shadrach that may get drafted next year, but that's hardly a ton of NFL talent when TOB inherited 10 NFL players (including Russell, Irving, Cole, Brown, and Sweezy) and Amato 13 (including Rivers, Cotchery, K-Rob, and Adrian Wilson)

Was Amerson ever really great? Sure he had the record breaking season, but how often did he just get blown past for a 75 yard touchdown.

Depends on which season you're talking about with Amerson. The year he tied the record, he was playing terrific football. The next year he looked pretty bad in coverage as he was constantly out of position. You could tell he was basically just trying to get interceptions and didn't care about actually covering his man.

^ yeah that's my observation as well. I think he became a victim of his own success and turned into just a ball hawk, vs a true cover corner. He probably made a lot of stupid decisions based on the success he had that one season.
