Spurs continue being dirty and getting away with murder meanwhile getting two soft penos. Lucky to get anything out of the match, shame about Salah's goal not being winner. What a player he has been.

Yeah but he deliberately tried to play the ball and that's why he qualified Kane. I've been reading around look for a real answer, and that's the new interpretation of the rule they've had in for 3 seasons now. As long as the defender tries to play it.

The best example given that read was if a player got a ball fired at him and it hit him in the stomach and then ricocheted to Kane that would be offside and the linesman would pull it back because he didn't deliberately play it.

[Edited on February 4, 2018 at 4:27 PM. Reason : Also, 4 points out of the last week is the type of result we need against the other big clubs]

But didn't he automatically affect the play by being there. I thought that was a rule too, if you stay in the play it's offsides. If Kane isn't there lovren let's it roll to Karius.

We really need to stay ahead of Spurs. Gotta have that champions league money to buy coutinho back this summer

It's going to come down to the last day for 3rd/4th/5th and quite possibly 2nd too. Collecting maximum points against the minnows is critical for all the big teams.

[Edited on February 5, 2018 at 9:39 AM. Reason : Also, I bet I've watched that Wanyama thundercunt about 100 times now. He absolutely leathered it.]

looking back on the decision and that conversation I agree with the refs. The offside was spotted it seems but the assistant wasn't sure if Lovren touched it. If Moss and other refs don't know Lovren touched it then they need to stick to his decision of penalty.

However the rule needs to be altered here. Lovren only touches the ball because Kane is offside, therefore it should be considered interference and given offside. Sure by law the call was technically correct but pool were hard done by.

Second peno was soft but after reviewing the angles it seems there was a foul in there. Was Lamela marginally offside? Sure but in that insistence the benefit goes to the attacker and Lamela has like half an inch of a foot offside. Van Dijk does foul Laamela but it was pretty soft. They have been given before.

Loved the last five minutes plus the result. Keeps us at bay with Pool and Chelsea needing to come to Old Trafford and force a result.

This is the part I don't understand. I think it's a huge leap of faith to have the assumption that Lovren has complete awareness as to what's around him. If he has that level of understanding in that moment, then why didn't he simply let the ball roll? Kane would have been flagged immediately.

That indicates to me that he was unsure of any other runs in behind or what exactly what going on around and him and he would have attempted the clearance anyway to remove any doubt about the situation regardless of Kane's positioning.

If Mourinho started saying shit like this he would get massacred by rivals and the media. Pochettino is basically advocating for cheating. No wonder the spurs team is one of the dirtiest and softest bunch of cunts in England. Poch likely encourages behavior like Alli's from some of his comments. Ridiculous.

^ again trying to bait a response. Posted a great discussion topic about Poch and it gets swept under the rug. As I said if Mourinho had said even half the bullshit Poch says there undoubtedly would have been a post here about it.

I love that in the article you posted is basically just shitting on united because of the performances against the top 6. We have 12 matches left and we are in second place. Ahead of third by 5 points. 3 out of the 4 matches left against the top 6 are at home. Oh but an integral part of our squad and a world class GK De Gea has saved our asses so much this season that the "dam is bound to break." Hmm I wonder what would happen if Liverpool took away Salah and his contribution? Liverpool is only where they are because of Salah but De Gea all of a sudden is going to let the dam break with 12 matches left and United isn't good enough because an integral player of the first team squad is saving us? LMFAO.

This shit is hilarious and the fact that you posted it is not surprising because this piece has Liverpool finishing 2nd. I will let the table and the match performances do the talking over some American websites looking at statistics alone to determine where each team finishes. Leave the statistics to baseball and leave the football to be judged by the performances on the pitch. Right now United is second. Have fun catching up.

yea its a message board, everything on here is looking for a response

and "swept under the rug"?? take a deep breath dude. If someone doesnt respond to your post its b/c they dont care.

As for the De Gea thing, you missed the point, it isnt that he is going to all of a sudden start sucking, its the worry that the performance is an unsustainable level of excellence even for a star. As for Salah, i think without coutinho, he probably will/has gotten fewer chances, but he is also just one of Pool's players that score whereas De Gea is the only goalie.

And get out of here w/ that "soccer is immune to stats" nonsense. Besides, you think this guy just reads a stat sheet and doesnt watch the games?? He is obviously forming his own opinion b/c he posted 538's analysis ranking and disagreed with it at about every turn.

Its an "American" website, fuck off, this is an american website too.

Plus at the end of the day its just a prediction, its not like it will be some huge shock if United stays 2nd, much less stays top 4, but they also arent some automatic lock. No need to get mad about it. Liverpool is behind spurs too and chelsea is behind spurs AND arsenal. Nobody has it out for United despite what you think.

We ended up with 7 points out of the Man U, @Liverpool, and Arsenal run. It might be a real turning point in the season as the run in is now pretty clear besides the obvious City loss and at Stamford Bridge.

As y'all have said though, if we took any of those chances in the 2nd half we could have embarrassed them. 1-0 was very flattering if you didn't see the match. It's nice to see them hitting top gear again right as the important matches hit.

2 points. I would call that temporary the way Liverpool and Spurs form is trending up while yours is trending down.

Not to mention you've still got Chelsea, Liverpool, City, and Arsenal left while Liverpool and Spurs only have two matches left against top 6 competition. Liverpool has United and City, and Spurs have Chelsea and City.

All this shit talk and disrespect and where is everyone else. Still behind united. You’re dealing with hypotheticals. I seem to recall I got laughed at for dealing with hypotheticals when I said we would have top 4 locked up and be 7 points behind city if we win those three games over Christmas.

Keep talking, that’s all spurs and pool fans have considering they are behind this amazingly horrible united team playing the worst football in England. Must be frustrating still being behind the team you disrespect on a weekly basis. Pretty hilarious.

Liverpool arsenal and Chelsea. All at home. Yea I like our chances a lot more than the teams sitting behind us. Keep disrespecting. I will let the table in May do the talking.

I'd love for you to define "shit talking". I don't think there has been a single piece of "shit talk" directed at United lately.

And yes United is in 2nd, that's exactly why Spurs and Pool fans on tww ever discuss United, not bc of the obsession you find hilarious. As you say, United is above them and we hope that position will flipping before end of the season. Each week I watch Pool and then check scores of United, Spurs, Chelsea and Arsenal, not by I'm obsessed with those teams but no other results matter.

You would be focused on City if there was any chance of catching them.

Still soaking in what happened in Italy last night. To have a tidal wave crash against you in the first 8 minutes and have the mental fortitude to not crumble, but actually get on the front foot and dominate the match for the next 80 minutes is a breakthrough in the maturity of the team. We completely outplayed them on their own patch and could have won.

Dembele is the fucking goat. That guy is absolutely unreal when he's on it. I heard someone describe him as that dad at a cook-out that gets a few beers in him and then tries to play keep away with the ball vs a bunch of kids for fun.

Got to think that we've got all the momentum headed back to Wembley.

Also that run of United, Liverpool, Newport, Arsenal, and Juventus we didn't lose a single game. Poch is fucking magic, you know.

^ I would say you were quite lucky against Pool. Good comeback against Juve although they were missing some key pieces in midfield though, but after conceding 2 early goals to get 2 away goals is huge and will mean Juve will have to play an attacking style at Wembley.

Matuidi? I'll take my chances with Dembele vs anyone they want to run out.

We were also missing Alderweireld, so now that we can get him back for the 2nd leg, if they score enough to be beat us at Wembley then fair play.

We were also without a fully fit Rose and Wanyama just coming back from major injuries. But nobody talks about that.

^^ The bad part for Liverpool is they aren't going to be able to hide anymore after this round. Got lucky with a total shit group that struggled with at points and then got a pretender RO16 matchup. Maybe Barca or Bayern next round and we can see how they stack up against legit competition.
