Yeah seriously. This is like 50 cents a dose. $50 of coke might last a weekend if you've never used it before, but your tolerance increases rapidly on amphetamines of any kind.

Not to mention this is significantly safer and legal.

Life would be kicking me in the balls right now if I had any. Still trying to get all the yeast and mold out of my diet. I'm thinking I can't tolerate even the tiniest bit of yeast extract in stuff, which means so many of the things I eat (seasoned sweet potato fries, canned soup) have to get cut. Hopefully I will feel good enough to start working out again soon.

Can you tolerate foods that have yeast extract as an ingredient? It's in pretty much everything.

no i can't - but i can't tolerate sulfites which includes anything that is give or take a preservative (to simplify it). so i can't have anything processed and/or canned.

That's pretty much where I'm at. I've got to figure out more easy meals I can prepare ahead or have in the freezer because I'm tired of trying to scratch cook every night. At least we have a grill, so we can thaw burger patties a night or two a week. Made crockpot pulled pork last night, will have to do that more often.

I think I need to get the SO over his hatred of chicken, or just make him go hungry. I'll chop up chicken and freeze it so that makes it super easy to cook when I get home. Thaw and throw in a frying pan with spices of choice. Chopping 5lbs at once is annoying, but better than doing it every time.

i don't know if mine are digestive issues - i just swell up very badly and my body (especially my digestive tract) shuts down. i have other symptoms (heart raising, red and itchy skin, insomnia, blurry vision, etc) but yeaaaaah

i cook stuff in batches and then eat off leftovers as needed. so i maybe cook 3 meals a week and then eat whatever is left. i do a lot of roasted veggies, baked chicken, grilled steak, baked/grilled fish, oatmeal, etc. when i am hungry i snack on raw almonds and fruit (mainly bananas).

it gets difficult sometimes (like last week when we had just moved and i hadn't had a chance to do a full grocery shopping, therefore we were eating out a lot) but i try to do my best to eat what is best for me. i have set backs and then i beat myself up because i feel like crap but i am working really hard to make a conscious effort in what i eat to make sure i stay on track.

the yeast thing is a killer though. i have played around with some different breads, yogurts/kefir, and cheese and i found that i can have a little bit of bread every once and a while, only fage or chobani plain greek yogurt, and only cheese maybe once or twice a week.

The bread I use is yeast free. I'm not going to lie and say it's delicious, but it's edible when toasted. Here's where I buy it (and lots of my other gluten free stuff)

http://www.vitacost.com/ener-g-white-rice-yeast-free-loaf-1-lb

If you're going to try ordering it let me know and I can send you a $10 coupon.

I've been having a little greek yogurt, but I'll try fage and chobani and see if those are better than the yoplait.

If you can use liquid smoke flavor then crockpot pulled pork is super easy and delicious. Even without the smoke flavor, some steak dry rub should make it pretty tasty. I just put a big chunk of pork in there with about a cup of water, garlic, liquid smoke on top of it to mostly cover it. If I'm at home I'll flip half way through, but no big deal if you can't. After leaving it on low all day it falls apart and is perfect for sandwiches or eating straight.

Minka, I can't have gluten, yeast, or mold and he's allergic to shellfish and will only eat foods a 7 year old would approve of. It's maddening. Sometimes I eat stuff I shouldn't (made a bunch of gluten free lasagna, guess I'll deal with the cheese), and sometimes I make what I want and he has to have a frozen pizza. He also doesn't like eating leftovers (with the exception of pulled pork and taco meat). I might make myself curry chicken this week and no way he'll touch that.

i can't have pork (nitrates) and i can't have any sauces or anything (corn syrup / corch starch). plus i also can't have garlic or onions. again, makes things a little difficult when we go out but a lot of places are also really great when i ask if something can be prepared plain.

Fuck that shit. I seriously would not be able to date someone if they hated those things. Food is too big in my life.

We have a friend who's husband doesn't like onions and it is annoying as fuck eating/cooking with them.

see my problem is that i love all food, it just doesn't love me back i resent myself a lot for it because it does make things more difficult but i do the cooking so sometimes depending on what i'm eating, i'll make my husband something he enjoys. most of the stuff we make can be prepared pretty quickly but my husband is also very flexible. he's seen me at my worst with this issue and now at a much better place so he sees that i don't struggle with the stomach/weight/swelling issues i once had.

still sucks.

That sucks. I was going to try making it with beef, will let you know how that turns out.

I found liquid smoke that didn't have a bunch of garbage in it, so maybe you could have that? I think this is one of the ones they had at the teeter. http://www.amazon.com/Colgin-Natural-Hickory-Liquid-Smoke/dp/B0005Z8NCM

Guys will be full of BS and try things they don't like when they first meet you, and hide how miserable they are to deal with until you fall for them. It's impossible to tell the ones that are picky eaters until you start cooking with them a lot.

Sometimes I wish he didn't drink because he wants to get a kegerator and I keep on telling him no, it needs to be something we can both use. Even gluten free cider is out now with the yeast crap, and I don't want a still in the garage because that sounds like a horrible idea.

anyone have any suggestions for HIIT? It's hard for me to do it by video online while streaming at the gym or on the go, that's why I thought an app would be best

For HIIT I used to use the elliptical and go as fast as you physically can for 20 seconds, then slow to a quick-ish walk for 40. Outdoors I'd sprint/walk the same, but you need an interval timer. 15 or so rounds and I was always pretty done.

Also, tabatas.

20 sec on 10 sec rest of movements

for a total of 4 minutes

I've done tabata on a treadmill before. I had a good burn. Legs felt like falling off after 3 minutes of work.

It's an all out effort.

Tabatas is a type of exercise. It's doing something...punching, wall balls, jumps etc

VERY VERY HARD, ALL OUT for maybe 20 seconds to a minute. Then stopping to rest 10 seconds, then doing it again ALL OUT VERY HARD for another 20 seconds or a minute. Doing this on and off...it's really fast, hard effort, with a minimal rest between for a lot of reps. We do this in Krav Maga a lot for punches. All out punches for 20 seconds, 10 second rest x 5. It really really works up the metabolism and helped with my recovery for fast, quick actions.

In about two years I'm expecting this thread to be discussing how people are allergic to any food that casts a shadow. I've been described as a picky eater because of how I prefer my macronutrient breakdown to look per meal, but I couldn't imagine having to limit my diet like some of you do.

Rough workout tonight felt like I was dead during it, still managed to hit all my lifts I'm pretty sure and exceeded on a handful of exercises.

Powered through another 30 minutes of LISS while on the yohimbine.

I hate to bring myself out of depletion but I absolutely felt like I had to so I grabbed 100g carb from blackeye peas and popcorn along with my protein shake for my post workout recovery. MMMM blackeye peas and popcorn that's an RIP GIRLFRIEND if I've ever seen one.

Probably going to pick up some dandelion root at the store tomorrow to reduce this water bloat caused by the yohimbine. It's depressing to look at and annoys me on the scale. Was pissing my face off from the ephidrine today though so maybe that will help too.

As an additional way to burn calories during the day I've been focusing on cleaning my place up. It has the added affect of not making me look like such a piece of shit when people are over.

Sunday and Monday were horrible for my diet, first significant carb intake of the last 2 weeks. Had movie theater popcorn, an icee, and a slice of pizza.

I also slept for about 15 hours after my run yesterday, which was fucking glorious. Left shin hurt like hell yesterday, felt like I had bruised it somehow, did a run anyway. Today it feels fine, not sure what happened.

Just finished breakfast, going to wait an hour or so and then go lift hard.

Could be a slight case of shin splints. I once got terrible bruises from shin splints

I think I shocked the older indian men in the gym this morning. It was hot as hell, someone left the heat on and I was wearing a long sleeve top so I whipped it off while I was on the bike at the end of my workout. I didn't care and my bra was dark and very covering anyways

I don't think I've ever had shin splints, and it didn't feel like I've heard shin splints described/different location. I think it may just be time for new shoes. Pain was just above the ankle/at bottom of shin. Felt like a deep bruise/bone pain. I actually think I might have hurt it at work somehow without realizing it.

nope can't have vinegar or molasses.

Minka - you can download free interval timer apps to your phone. that's what i use for HIIT. i'll watch the video and write down the exercises and then bring it with me to the gym.

I got a question for the health/fitness experts. Whenever I over eat on a day after I've been restricting calories, I always feel and look really skinny the following morning. What's up with that? I've been limiting my diet between 1600 - 2000 calories per day. The days I over eat are generally 2500 - 3000 calorie days. Is there some physiological effect I am stimulating?

Muscles maybe getting pumped with glycogen from increased carb intake. The increase in calories could lower cortisol levels, allowing you to release a bunch of water.

Water retention plays a huge role in how you look and weigh.

###

So far my slow cut is going very well. My lifts are feeling very strong, my conditioning is the best its been in the longest I can remember, and almost daily I can see an increase in visibility in my muscle definition and 6-pack (currently 4pack).

Yesterday was a Max Effort Press day and got a good upper body work out in. Day before was fat loss conditioning with prowler pushes and steady state work on the rower.

Today, I will probably do some more fat loss protocols... 5 minutes of HIIT followed by ~20minutes of steady state work. Tomorrow, I'll do a dynamic lower body workout with some high volume pump assistance work.

I'm really starting to stabilize around that 150 lb mark and it feels great. I'm not even really going above average on the working out either. Just watching what I eat a little bit more. Once the weather gets nicer and I'm able to get out and run more, it's going to be a lot easier to maintain.

Very comforting. I'm about to hit 30 and I was starting to get worried that my metabolism was taking a huge drop.

I suppose that makes sense. I'm not going to lie and say I understand how glycogen and cortisol work. I drink about 120 - 140 oz of water per day and I think my body has gotten used to that amount of hydration. I've been stable at ~170. I feel like my abs are starting to show through more and I definitely know I've lost inches off my waist.

I know I need to eat more to get bigger muscles, but I also want to be in really good cardiovascular shape because part of my PFT is a 3 mile run. I need to do well on my PFT because being above the standard is expected of me and is directly reflected on my FITREPs, etc. So, while I'd like to be a little more defined, I'd like to stay around 170. I don't know how that's possible so I'm just gonna keep doing what I'm doing and see what happens. LOL

My simple thoughts on that.

If you look at calorie restriction (“starvation”, although not really starving yourself in the true sense), as a fight or flight response, the cortisol plays a role. It’s a hormone released during stress but also stimulates inflammatory response.

So…

Starvation = release of stress hormone = stimulation of inflammatory response = swelling = look fatter on calorie restricted days = some water retention as well

^ Cool! Thanks! That makes a lot of sense.

Though, on my calorie restricted days, I feel satiated. I never restrict so much that I feel like I'm starving or going to die.

No, I did that 2 years ago to lose 25lbs in 10 weeks. To be fair, if you do a rapid fat loss correctly, it is effective.

But, it is a crash diet. So certain things need to be done to mitigate problems. E.g. refeeds, reduced training volume, thermogenics, etc.

This is pretty standard "carb backloading".

Shredded in six days: http://www.t-nation.com/free_online_article/sports_body_training_performance_diet_mass/shredded_in_6_days

No, it's not saying you can go from fat to shredded in 6 days, but you can make yourself look a lot leaner if you manipulate carb intake.

Mmmm hmmm, 4 miles today. Bought some new shoes and broke them in with a nice little run.

Really working hard to maintain a healthy diet, results are starting to show. 3 people at work comented on how it looked like I've lost weight. It really is becoming noticeable especially in my face. Have gone down a notch on my belt, pants are fitting much looser.

Still want to drop another 8-10 pounds and really get lean. Results are coming though and I feel very good right now.

Fareako what you are talking about is a real thing ill post more about it when I can see straight.

Ugh, I forgot how immune you feel to alcohol when you're on stimulants and amphetamines.

Didn't eat lunch or dinner then drank 20 beers then fingered a stripper, spent like $500 last night. Just rolled out of bed, need to find something healthy to eat that I won't puke up.
