my squadron did a group buy on P229s...$650 with some custom engraving. I was thinking about getting in on the deal, but I had about $1500 of expenses come up last month. Pretty thoroughly wrecked my budget for buying guns or anything else unnecessary (besides investing).

if you're willing to drive a little ways for a truly good gunsmith then Johnson's Gun Works in Rosewood (near Goldsboro) is the absolute best I've ever seen. Really old guy who works from a shop in his backyard.
