Well at least that's clear. Also I'm glad you noticed the doubling down on my humble brag. I'm really trying with the PBR references. I may even step up my game to Miller High Life to make things exciting. 8/12/2016 1:58:30 AM |

For some reason I have fond memories of drinking High Life and shooting pool on Hillsborough Street back in the day. PBR just makes me think of hipsters with tall boys.

Do you prefer the traditional 12oz PBR or the 24oz tall boy? I think part of it was in college I just felt fancier drinking out of a glass while shooting pool. 8/12/2016 2:20:10 AM |

I'm glad I'm the only one finding beer arguments even being relevant in this thread hilariously ridiculous
maybe this beer discussion would be better suited for workplace enjoyances?!? or not, I am so confused 8/12/2016 11:44:47 AM |

It's a common workplace annoyance when people stock the fridge with shitty beer. I don't want to be complaining in the workplace enjoyances thread. 8/12/2016 11:57:23 AM |

Last time I checked all jobs weren't the same. A workplace annoyance for one person doesn't have to be a workplace annoyance for everyone. I didn't know we all had to happily agree ITT on what annoys us at work. 8/12/2016 12:33:20 PM |

What would be a more non-douchey way to complain about someone stocking the beer fridge with shitty beer?
Also stop getting hung up on the "beer" and "free" thing. Many companies provide free beer. That's not an abnormal thing. It's the same as providing coffee or fruit for many companies. If I want to complain about some aspect of my job that is normally great (good beer selection) but was poor this week (bad beer selection) wouldn't that quality as a workplace annoyance? That was my primary workplace annoyance for the week...

Even among this tech-slanted audience, I'd wager the % of people's employers that consistently provide FREE BEER to be consumed in the workplace is quite low (<10%). So yah, abnormal.8/12/2016 12:49:33 PM |

my company does a happy hour with free beer and wine after some big meetings and stuff. it's usually the same old crappy domestics and maybe a Sierra Nevada or something local if you're lucky. i don't get in a twist if i don't like them. i either drink the free beer and move on or i don't.
i'm kinda doing you a favor here by letting you know that you're being a bitch. you're welcome. 8/12/2016 12:51:05 PM |

That's the type of attitude that proliferates poor work culture though. If you want to have a say in the beer selection, the type of happy hours, or the work social events then step up and say something. My company is trying very hard to have a better work/life balance with a great work culture. Part of that is people stepping in and suggesting food, drinks, activities, and other things that would jointly make our work a better place. If one person keeps buying the same beer every time because no one steps up it's everyone's fault.
I'm simply saying there are plenty of model companies out there that take input from their employees and really do a great job with feedback and culture. Sure I may sound like a dick to you guys but in many circles complaining that the beverage selection is lack luster is something that's ENCOURAGED because it makes people step up their game. If you don't like your work culture go out and do something about it. 8/12/2016 1:00:26 PM |

Coffee is 65 cents/cup at my workplace. They do give you those mini Hershey bars for free though, so there's that.

Well no we have wine and cocktails too. A couple weeks ago we had a "Man Men" themed happy hour and my coworker dressed up as a 50's style bar tender and made everyone cocktails. That was a blast. We also had a tequila happy hour last Friday at Galvanize. So I say beverage to indicate any drink. 8/12/2016 1:39:34 PM |

lol at the last bunch of posts. I wish I worked somewhere that you could even have a beer at work, let alone be given beer.
I've never even worked somewhere where people ordered a drink at lunch. We even had an office outing to King's (bowling, pool, darts, etc. at North Hills) and the boss said if we wanted a beer we could have one if we used vacation time for the outing
I have friends who get trashed at work and are always posting snap chats of such. I just don't get it but I'm probably just jealous. 8/12/2016 2:21:37 PM |

when your boss gives you a methodology that doesn't add add, claims it adds up, then when you try it to your best abilities, not once but attempt it 3 times ..... and then he's like "I don't understand how this didn't work? did you use exactly the right amount of X chemical?etc etc"

One of my clients is doing background checks / drug tests for everyone involved on the account. This particular client is headquartered in Atlanta. We all live in Denver, Colorado. If 9/10 people show positive for THC I wonder what will happen. I just got a notification that I have to take a drug test within 48 business hours (so by Monday at this time).
Good thing that leaves enough time to get all the coke and meth out of my system. 12/8/2016 12:12:28 PM |

This thread always comes to mind when I wash my hands in the bathroom at the office (I mainly work out in the field and only go to the office once a week for a meeting). The sink is pretty small and both the faucet and soap dispenser (which dispenses into the sink area and not on the wall or anything) have the sensors to automatically turn on/dispense when you put your hands in front of them. And since the sink is small, they are so close together that I have to hold my hands at an off angle to rinse them, otherwise soap will just continuously continue to come out and make it a never ending process.
I always think of that video of the kid taking a shower in the locker room trying to rinse the shampoo out of his hair but his buddy keeps putting more in without him realizing it 12/9/2016 9:38:17 AM |
