May have already been said, but how about a shot of someone writing out equations, drawing maps, or sketching out critical strategies, apparently on glass, as seen from the OTHER side of the glass? Bonus points if the writing is white in color or uses lipstick. 8/14/2010 8:40:24 PM |

those scenes where it's a pretty friendly conversation without any sign of violence or anger and then one character just suddenly blows another's head off unexpectedly, that seems like the type of footage those sick ass revel in violence tartantino types seem to get off on
the fact that any collision has to be a huge explosion has kind of bothered me since i was 10, a lot of the time the explosions are so awkward, like after a ten second delay the thing just suddenly blows up, it just doesn't seem realistic but I guess we need mythbusters to know for sure 8/20/2010 7:45:04 PM |

Cars getting t-boned. I don't mind it as part of the plot, but there's one shot that everyone seems to use where they frame it like a shot of a driver or passenger and you see a suburban careening straight towards them in the background and they never notice. 8/20/2010 11:17:23 PM |

Probably been called out before:
kind of getting annoyed of the whimsical practice noises of an Orchestra being used in eerie times or in dark places to build up tension in the scene, when 9/10 times is something stupid like a cat jumping out; then the dramatic music with heavy drums play when someone jumps the subjects from behind like not 10 seconds after.
When someone asks if they are going to be alright, when they know damn well it's not going to be alright, but still ask it anyways and the subject asked reassures them that it will be alright, then 10 seconds later talk to another cool headed character telling them that in fact that it's not going to be alright.
Black guy's death is never the 1st one in modern movies anymore.
When actors play a role that isn't even the right race or age for that matter.
When military characters don't really act or follow like military people.
Use empty oil drums or car doors when under fire and said bullets are stopped from a firearm that could easily penetrate them.
Why does every military mission, in the most unlikely situation, pack C4 and somehow the situation is a game changer for their favor.
The use of 555 area code then be obscure to show the rest of the numbers like someone's hand covering up the last few digits or something like that.
Not really a movie cliche, but when characters who use mirrored glasses, the reflection of the production crew and light mods are always annoying to me to see. Edit that shit out or don't use sun glasses. 11/3/2010 1:45:22 PM |

I've always wanted to know the story behind 555 11/3/2010 6:14:05 PM |
Mr. Joshua Swimfanfan 43948 Posts user info edit post |
Quote : | "The phone companies began encouraging the producers of television shows and movies to use the 555 prefix for fictional telephone numbers, roughly during the 1960s. One of the earliest uses of a 555 number can be seen in Panic in Year Zero! (1962), with 555-2106. In older television shows from the 1950s or 1960s, "KLondike 5" or "KLamath 5" was used, as at the time the telephone exchanges used letters and numbers in phone numbers. More recent works set in this period typically use this convention as well. For example, Dr. Emmett Brown's 1955 phone number in Back to the Future is "KLondike 5-4385".
The number "2368" is a carryover from "EXchange 2368", which was common in old telephone advertisements.[2] This represents "Exchange Central", with 2368 being the numeric version of "CENTral" in alphabetic dialing.
Before "555" or "KLondike-5" gained broad usage, and before touchtone phones became standard, scriptwriters would sometimes invent fake exchanges starting with words like "QUincy" or "Zebra". The letters "Q" and "Z" were not used on the old dial phones." |

when super cool dude grabs a rifle (with scope) that he's never shot before and knows nothing about and goes and pulls off a 1000yd shot first time around. Yeah, fuck you buddy that ain't happening.
Or movies like "The Hurt Locker", where you have EOD roll up on a SAS team, and yet, the SAS team lets the EOD guys man the sniper rifle when anyone with a fucking clue knows that wouldn't happen in real life.

When someone is tinkering between life and death - usually bleeding profusely - and being attended to by the paramedics, a friend, or sometimes alone, the camera will pan from up above usually centered on the victim's eyes/face.
Then, while the patient lies in a coma, he can barely see glimpses of events filtered through some ghost-trail haze and slow-motion techniques. 11/20/2010 10:51:38 AM |
