NM they did. Maybe having teammates that didn't appreciate him and (maybe) a front office that threw him under the bus for a injuries didn't help.

Must be some big issues to leave all that cash on the table.

The Knicks are a terrible franchise for a host of reasons. Talking heads may have wanted KD to go there, but he made the wiser choice, without a doubt.

They do in the same sense that the Lakers and Clippers share the same media, but one franchise has 1000X more notoriety/exposure than the other. NYY fanbase was wayyyy bigger than the Nets (and much more valuable), even when they played in Jersey, but that's probably about to change real quick. If you want to compare SF/OAK for baseball, or Dodgers/LAA, the same thing applies- both teams being equal, one gets way more national (local too!) spotlight than the other. Or you could look right at the Jets/Giants if you wanna keep it NYC local. If KD and the Nets suck, it'll be tough in NY media, but I'd argue not nearly as bad as if he were a Knick. Guess we'll never know for sure, will we?

I think maybe the difference is defining media as journalists, or expanding that to include SAS and the like, which is clearly entertainment/opinion. I don't think they're out there doing reporting. And frankly if you watch that type of stuff you deserve what you get. That said, I think betting odds favored KD to the Knicks. It was never locked in, but it probably wasn't as much of a longshot as you think. But like you say, we'll never know I guess.

As for the last part, I asked how KD got you Russell, you didn't answer that.

When I wrote it, I thought KD was a huge reason the trade went through, since it seemed like an awfully great stroke of luck for the Ws. But after reading more about it and the details of the trade, there's no real proof he had anything to do with it, although I suspect he played some part.
