that's because you're an idiot...he's an agent not a financial/investment adviser first off, and secondly look at his list of clients and the contracts he's gotten them, shit is no joke.

all the denial going on by UNC fans is still pretty hilarious

to them, "the NCAA has not made any rulings yet" is the same as "its impossible that we've done anything wrong"

Balmer is the one who supposedly paid for Austin's trip. It is strange he goes AWOL during this time.

The free board at IC strikes me as thoroughly "managed".

There's some thread over there where a mod tells someone to turn on their IM's, and the guy hadn't even posted in the thread. Then a minute later, the dude posts to say he turned them on.

That, and the premium board has 15 threads on the NCAA investigation, and the free board has like 2, and it's mostly people posting about how they're fine, everything's fine, situation normal.

I feel bad for the V-tech fan who is simply stating No everything is not fine to which the only response is "BAN THE TROLL". Earlier in the thread one of the posters even said that Austin and Little should be sat during the LSU game so that they won't have to vacate that win if Austin and Little aren't proven innocent. Delusional?

I will be surprised if the NCAA rules by Friday. I hope they don't because it will mean there is more to it than simply Austin and Thomas getting their trip paid for...

i liked the one guy's idea who was like "lets play them for the LSU game...that way if we have to forfeit the game if Austin and Little are ineligible, it won't hurt our conference record"

thats actually not a bad idea...why not play them against LSU and Rutgers

I hope that the NCAA comes out Friday with punishment for players 8 and 9 and says something along the lines of "however, during the investigation, other issues arose and we are conducted a deeper investigation into coaching staff and recruiting."

I can dream

from the bottom of that wral link:
Quote :
"Pat Forde leaves UNC out of his top 25"

It's news when UNC is left out of a ranking. Wow.

When I saw this I figured something similar, If they go ahead and rule on friday even with all the crap that came down this week that probably just means a couple game suspension or other slap on the wrist.

I can't believe the NCAA is wrapping this thing up so soon. Since when did they ever move this fast for anyone?

After reading the article it may be that the original intent was to have it wrapped up by now but more evidence is coming to light which is going to make this timeline difficult to meet.

"The NCAA also sent UNC an email on July 26 citing NCAA Bylaws 32.3.10 and 32.6.4 in establishing a "secure Web site containing evidentiary materials pertinent to the case currently being reviewed by the NCAA Agent, Gambling and Amateurism Activities staff."

The UNC staff would be able to access the site after signing an attached web custodial confidentiality agreement, but less than five hours later, Miller sent a second email asking the compliance staff to disregard the previous email sent about the web custodial."

To me this means initially that they probably were going to slap Austin on the wrist but now they have reopened the investigation and are finding more evidence that would have to be included on the website for the UNC staff to view. If the UNC staff still hasn't had a chance to view the "evidentiary materials" and respond to them I find it really difficult to believe that the NCAA is going to have a ruling by Friday.

it's all a matter of perspective. it's painful if you take some of the posters over there seriously. it can also be viewed as slightly comedic.

^ That's good IMO. The longer this thing drags out, the worse UNC looks. Not to mention if the investigation stretches into the season, UNC will have to think long and hard about playing Austin or Little. Were those 2 to play and later be declared ineligible, UNC would likely have to forfeit those wins. I'd love for those 2 to sit for the whole season, but if they sat for a few games as a precaution and were then cleared of any wrongdoing (which would be a huge stretch for Austin) it would be equally entertaining.

http://nationalcollegefootballreport.blogspot.com/2010/08/ncaa-finds-no-major-violations-at-north.html

Quote :
"The NCAA report into the investigation at the University of North Carolina has been completed. Sources who have seen the report have passed along the information contained:

No issues with institutional control were found.
No issues were found with coaches or football staff in their dealings with agents as regarding the teams current or former players.
Two current players' and one former player's actions were the focus of the investigation: Marvin Austin, Greg Little, and Cam Thomas.

Greg Little did not have any issues. All travel and expenses were properly accounted for. No further action will occur.

Marvin Austin and Cam Thomas were both recipients of travel and expenses from their former teammate Kentwan Balmer for a trip to Los Angeles in the summer of 2009. Austin also had a meeting with an agent during that time which is an issue as he had not reached the age where this contact was allowed. The NCAA found no irregularities in money for Marvin Austin's trips to Miami in May of 2010.

Per NCAA precedent, both players will be allowed to donate a comparable amount to charity in exchange for the expenses paid by Balmer.

Marvin Austin will serve a 1 game suspension because of the agent contact. "

this can't be serious?

I'll be surprised if anything comes of this at all. I'd rather just hope carolina loses every game this year so it doesn't really matter either way.
