I'm learning how to drink Scotch, because i think it will be cool to be a "single malt" snob.
I come from a beer guzzling background, so my pacing is off.
I drank 7 or 8 doubles of Glenlivet in a few hours
It didn't seem like a lot.
I didn't wind up doing very well that night.
I hope no one recognizes me from that bar I wound up getting thrown out of. 10/30/2009 2:43:13 AM |

I'm not at all anti-social in the least, but I really dislike Halloween. I think it's dumb to spend hours upon hours (or even a little time) thinking up and putting together a costume. I don't even really like being around people who dress up.
So every year I look for something else to do to avoid the costume parties. I found one tonight. Still need one for tomorrow.
Am I the only one?

When I was young I was kind of afraid of flowers. No, I don't know why, what's more nonthreatening than a flower?
These days I'm okay with and even rather enjoy live/freshly cut ones, but even now, dead or wilted flowers still creep me out. 10/30/2009 9:58:48 AM |

I have no enthusiasm for Halloween, except maybe to go out and see what other people are dressed up as. I have no interest in dressing up, as all the characters/people I'd want to dress up as take way too much effort for something I'd wear one night a year.
Part of the issue is I grew up in this church that believed Halloween was an occult, evil holiday. We had a Hallelujah night where people dressed as Bible characters. No I'm not making this up. Consequently, I have none of the good Halloween memories others have like pumpkin carving, trick or treating, or dressing up.
The other part is I am increasingly anti-social. I have no interest in having candy for trick or treaters, mostly because I have no interest in meeting the neighbors or their kids. I have the same attitude toward my coworkers. I see these people 8 hours a day and only have a passing interest in their lives. Sometimes I wonder if there's something wrogn with me.10/30/2009 11:19:18 AM |

^^i didn't have a church but a mother who said halloween was an occult, evil holiday
no trick-or-treating or giving out candy no costumes at all--not even when we had little parties at school where everyone dressed up and sat in a circle to tell everyone else about their costumes
i carved pumpkins and went trick-or-treating starting my freshman year of college fuck it, i live on my own now ] 10/30/2009 11:43:02 AM |

I loved Halloween... as a kid.
And I didn't mind it in college, though I never really bothered with a costume. But I think it's a bit weird to go to a keg party or bar dressed up in a costume when I'm in my mid-to-late 20s.
Maybe I'm the odd one... I mean I'm not stuck-up/overly mature for my age at all. I don't know...
** Also, I fucking HATED when everyone dressed up at my last job (business casual finance job) and wondered why I didn't even on a day when I had to meet with a client...

Wow, I must have had the coolest Mom ever. She even mailed me a big plastic pumpkin filled with little candy bars every year that I was in college. I'm sorry your parents got their wires crossed about the FUNNEST HOLIDAY OF THE YEAR! Seriously, get yourself a cheap mask or a 99 cent witch hat (it works for guys too) and hop on down to Hillsborough tonight.
On the confession side, I do confess that I hate pulling out pumpkin guts. When they dry on your hands it's almost as hard to get off as dried sploge. Ick! 10/31/2009 2:07:04 PM |

i recently bought a house and have been doing renovations before i move in. its an older home and both of the people that lived there are now passed away. i don't believe in ghosts or spooks or haints, but tonight i worked myself up into such a state that i could no longer work and had to leave. anytime i ran the skill saw, i would imagine someone was pulling on the cord, i convinced myself that the rusting trees/rain dripping off the house was footsteps, etc. and there was no way in hell i was going to even attempt to go look for something i'd left upstairs. i know it was all my head, but it seriously creeped me the fuck out. I had to get out of there. 10/31/2009 9:52:42 PM |

Other people seem to try to run their dishwasher when they are about to leave or something so they don't have to listen to it. But I like the way mine sounds, so I only run it when I am going to be at home. Because that is the kind of thrilling life I lead. 11/2/2009 11:14:58 PM |
