This is as best as I can describe it:
Beginning of movie normally focuses on how issue A comes about. Halfway into the movie there's normally a scene where everything appears to have settled down to the point where main character is making peace with issue A. Then out of thin air issue B reveals itself and now the main character must not only get over issue A but B as well.
The only movie example I can give of this is Father of the Bride. (The part where the guy buys his girl a Blender.)
It's very annoying

i'd say that's a bit of a stretch.
what i hate more than almost anything these days is the "anchor man" comedic style. it's very rampant, and very terrible. 6/9/2008 2:50:35 PM |

The classic someone gets killed by accident and the whole movie is dedicated to covering up the accident or the "victim" stalks and kills the people one by one. Weekend at Bernie's I'm looking in your direction.
I never could get past the "most people would just call 911 and be absolved of any wrongdoing" feeling. Plus movies like I know what you did last summer where the guy seeks revenge for having stepped out in front of a car. Oversimplification, sure.

Identity Secret Window Beautiful Mind (kinda) Fight Club (maybe. You could say it was the first to pull this twist. But I think you could easily argue that it is cribbing from Psycho).

Romans/Greeks always speaking with a British accent.
Other language screwups, for example in Braveheart the princess spoke with a French accent while the king and prince spoke with an English accent, when actually they all would have spoken French at that time.
Not a deal breaker of course, I still love Gladiator and Braveheart, but slightly annoying. 6/9/2008 5:11:16 PM |

exactly, the whole intention of shoot 'em up was to blow every action movie cliche out of proportion to the point ridiculousness. and it succeeded brilliantly. i love this movie6/9/2008 5:16:40 PM |

Every foreigner speaking in a British accent, for that matter. It seems that every time a movie is portraying subjects who don't speak English, the actors feel the need to use bad British accents.6/9/2008 5:22:55 PM |

this is kind of hard to explain... but i hate when something happens to a character that wasn't their fault (or something they didn't do, but everyone thinks they did), and everyone else is pissed off at them, and when the person tries to explain themselves, people shake their heads and don't listen.. OR even worse is when they don't try to explain themselves at all
think the entire beginning of Anger Management.. there are more examples like this, but they aren't coming to me. 6/9/2008 7:04:19 PM |

-Black dude getting killed first -Male and female who hate each other at first, then slowly fall in love. -Shooting people in the body (armored) when their head is clearly un-armored. -rappers who star in movies AND make the theme song (Deep Blue Sea) -Bad guy who chases after good guys by way of walking and the good guys/victims are running, but can never get away lol.
These aren't serious annoyances, just minor annoying trends that I see in a lot of movies, most of the time its funny to watch...lol.
