^^^^^Just because the police don't write the laws they enforce, it doesn't make the current situation any less of a joke. We devote a tragically comic amount of time and money to arresting people for providing weed to the millions of Americans who enjoy smoking it. Period.

I don't see why you feel the need to follow up with some point about how the cops don't write the laws.

^^You understand that the police have a personal interest in enforcing the drug laws, right? It's what justifies a good portion of their existence. It's downright foolish to deny their part in all this. And I get that you don't think you pay a lot to enforce the laws and lock up the offenders, but just be aware that your tax money does go to it (where "it" is the creation of misery for your fellow Americans). I'm certainly not trying to sum up the "deeper ideological conversation" () in that one point, but it's hopefully a good start to helping you admit that it does affect you.
