If he wins the Heisman at Wisconsin, I'll still think O'Brien made the right decision. It'll be a a little bitter-sweet, but I'd be happy for RW, and still proud that he was our qb for 3 years. Somehow, I doubt it'll happen though.

And if Glennon gets hurt or struggles, I'll still think O'Brien made the right decision. It'll certainly suck though.

Now, for a second, just imagine that Russell makes it as a starter in the NFL. When they do the offensive introductions where the players say their name and what school they went to, does he say NC State or Wisconsin?

I'm not really sure how I feel about this thread. I guess if we can confine RW talk to this one I'm ok with it. Just don't turn it in to a RW/TOB bashing thread. He did a lot for our school and was a damn good person from the sound of it.

Bashing kids is never right but you don't want us bashing the performance of a professional coach?

I really hope KeB gets some Wisconsin tickets because I know damn sure I don't want him or any of these other non-Wolfpack fans at our games. Good chance he doesn't go anyway judging by his posts.

It's going to be tough seeing RW win a lot at Wisconsin next year, but I wish him all the best.

hard to blame a kid who's in a position to go play for a national title for going to play for a national title. i hope he does fine, but i honestly don't want him to win a national title or heisman trophy.

funny, i felt the same way about boozie during his relentless bashing of Sid. however, i am aware that he has season tickets, and i'm happy that he's supporting TOB's decision (for whatever reason)

Quote :
"Even in Wisconsin Wilson can impact ACC

Russell Wilson got more national attention by transferring to Wisconsin than he did in three years of lighting up ACC scoreboards at NC State. And that’s why his season in Madison can actually affect the image of his former conference. He must succeed.

While the numbers don’t entirely bear it out, the national perception is ACC football is substandard compared to the other BCS conferences not named the Big East. The league hasn’t put forth a legitimate national title contender in a decade, a fact that should embarrass conference administrators.

But it has produced plenty of quality teams, and the league has been as deep, if not deeper, than any other conference over several seasons. But none of that registers with most fans. They see losses in big games and just two BCS bowl victories, and they basically accept the league’s label.

That’s one reason Wilson’s decision to play his final year of college football at Wisconsin has earned mixed reactions across the landscape, and how he performs is important to his former conference.

Many ACC fans will be fascinated watching how Wilson navigates a Big Ten schedule that includes consecutive road games against Michigan State and Ohio State, plus dates with Penn State and Nebraska. Will he shred those defenses like he did ACC ones to the tune of 8,545 yards and 76 touchdown passes? Wilson even ran for 1,089 yards and scored 17 touchdowns on the ground.

Up in the Midwest, though, folks not associated with Badgers aren’t so sold on the former Wolfpack rifleman. They admit he’s impressive on video, but many take it with a grain of salt, suggesting he simply mastered mediocre ACC defenses.

“Look what league he played in,” is a thought often expressed the last few days.

Yet, they don’t take into consideration that the ACC and Big Ten measure up quite a bit in recent years. For example: In the 2000s, current ACC teams are 17-20 versus current Big Ten teams, which includes Nebraska. Five of the ACC’s defeats have been by Duke, which has gone winless in its own conference just about every other year over the last two decades. But the ACC owns a 5-4 mark versus the Big Ten in bowl games, and has put more players in the NFL.

The ACC was second with 35 players selected in last April’s NFL draft. The Big Ten had 29 players taken. Only the SEC and ACC have had at least 30 players taken in each of the last seven drafts.

In addition, the ACC has had 23 more players taken in the NFL draft since 2006 than the Big Ten, including seven more first-round selections, and it had 12 more players on NFL rosters last season. ACC football isn’t exactly a side show.

But, since those numbers aren’t common knowledge and don’t matter if a league isn’t putting up a national title contender, the ACC needs to prove it on the field in every manner it can to bolster its image. And other than head-to-head matchups in key games, such as on Sept. 17 when Oklahoma and Ohio State, among other powers, take on ACC teams, Wilson’s performance this fall could be a measuring stick for the league.

If Wilson posts similar numbers as he did at NC State, especially in key games, the Badgers will challenge for the national championship and Wilson will make a push for the Heisman Trophy. It will also diffuse the current sentiment that his numbers have been due to competing in an inferior conference.

If he struggles, the naysayers will boast about, and ACC fans will be left playing the defense card."

If you're not cheering for Russell Wilson to succeed, you hate the ACC...

At no point did I become a fan of another team or say something as ridiculous as "I am a Wisconsin fan first, and a Wolfpack fan 2nd" like some of these tools are.

Fat Tony is so weak with his shit it doesn't even register... He's like Ernie without the redeeming quality of being a Braves fan. Just totally ignores logic even when its shot in his face.

The #2 all time team in the best conference, 6 national championships, top 10 all time nationally in wins and win % even with the last 5-6 years being god awful, but yeah, all I have to cheer for is the conference... I hope Vandy saves us! what a stupid bitch, go back to CC

based on a comparison of other coaches in their respective sports, then of course that is true, Saban isnt a Top 1 or 2 all time coach... yet. Now, dont get me wrong, I would trade her in a heartbeat for him...

I guess if my team got beat by a depleted UNC team last year I'd look to historical stats too.

"The Heisman Pundit looks at Russell Wilson's impact on the Heisman Trophy race. Bottom line - the Pundit sees Wilson's arrival helping out the case for Montee Ball and James White more than Wilson. But, if Wisconsin has a great season and Wilson's numbers are good, the Pundit says we might have "another legitimate Heisman candidate to add to the mix.""

"He threw for 3,563 yards, 28 TDs and 14 INTs in 2010. He will need to improve on his completion percentage (58.4) and interceptions.

Wisconsin will be solid once again in 2011, and Wilson will have a chance to lead the Badgers to a national championship.

My 2011 Prediction: 4,000 yards, 36 TDs and eight INTs"

Back to reality, fanboys

http://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/insider/news/story?id=6738725

Quote :
"After looking at the metrics, it starts to become clear that the impact of a Wilson-Wisconsin pairing could be just as overhyped, and potentially as disappointing, as the Walker-Vikings pairing.

Let's start with some basics. As highly lauded as Wilson is, his 2010 numbers were mediocre in many ways.

For starters, consider that Wilson wasn't even an elite quarterback among ACC passers last season. His 6.8 yards per attempt (YPA) and 127.71 passer rating ranked sixth and fifth, respectively, among ACC quarterbacks.

If he wasn't a dominant quarterback in his conference last season, why is it automatically assumed that he will be an elite passer this year?"

Kinda crazy that RW had that streak and only 1 interception in '08, only to have 11 and 14 in '09 & '10.
