Is that a fact?
From your previous post:
Quote : | "To him, fixing the economy means making it easier for rich people to make more money faster. Most people wouldn't really want the economy to be fixed if they only knew but that is the catch to this election.
Don't believe me?
We measure the health of the economy by GDP, the stock market and unemployment. The last of those three is the only one most people care about. " |
You used the word "cares" verbatim, and rightfully so. There are a shitload of people who rightfully care very much about the stock market (and, for that matter, GDP, although they might not directly keep their finger on the pulse of GDP.) 401k plans, IRAs, etc...what do you think these things consist of? That's right: stocks. The health of the U.S. economy is measured in these terms for a reason, and the impact is much broader than just the value of a Fortune 500 CEO's company stock options.
Aside from that, yeah, jobs are important, but the government can't create jobs that add value/production. It's like the fucking law of conservation of GDP, haha. The government can avoid impeding economic development, which will help out with GDP and the stock market. The stock markets are the leading indicator (because they account for and price in the future); the GDP is the real metric of the here & now, and then the jobs will follow once the economic conditions to support them exist. Your desire to approach the issue by magically shitting jobs is a case of trying to push a rope uphill.5/13/2012 9:13:59 PM |

No he didn't. He said he didn't remember the incident but is sorry if anyone was offended by any of his "pranks." That would only qualify as an apology in Washington.
Also Romney telling whopper after whopper about debt but GOP will buy it because it fits their narrative

From WSJ:
Mitt Romney after getting a MBA and a law degree, at the same time, from Harvard Romney took a job as a consultant at Bain Consulting. Within 9 years he was CEO of Bain Consulting, while making Bain Consulting one of the most successful Management Consulting Firms in the USA. He left Bain Consulting to form his own new company, Bain Capital, with the owner of Bain Consulting as a partner. The plan was to buy up companies that are undervalued (usually not doing well financially) or are bankrupt; then through their management skills and contacts make these companies more profitable. Then sell these companies at a profit.
Over 9 years Mitt Romney had 14 major successes, and 18 minor successes, in many different types of companies in USA. He had 4 more major successes in other countries also. This information comes from Wikipedia‘s site on Bain Capital:
Blooming Brands (Outback Steakhouse; Carrabba’s Italian Grill; Bonefish Grill; Roy’s; . Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar) Del Monte Foods Guinness Staples, Inc. (taking it from one store to 2000) Am Pad (consisted of Niagara Envelopes, and SCM Writing Products) Totes Umbrellas Isotoner Gloves Sealy Mattresses Alliance Laundry Systems Domino’s Pizza Artisan Entertainment Accuride Sports Authority Damon Corp _______________ Dade Behring (Diagnostic Medical Equipment) AMC Entertainment Aspen Education Group Brookstone Burlington Coat Factory Clear Channel Communications Double Click Experian (Consumer Credit Reporting Business of TRW) Dunkin Donuts D & M Holding Guitar Center Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) Toys “R” Us Warner Music Group Weather Channel Calumet Coach (medical equipment) Gartner Group (technology research)
Looking at these successful companies you realize that Mitt Romney has created tens of thousands of jobs. During the 9 years Bain Capital grew an average of 25 % every year.
During the 14 years his team looked at 2000 companies as potential acquisitions. During 14 years he acquired 77 companies’ and terminated 17 of these companies selling off the material-assets, the businesses contracts, and the intellectual property. His management skills kept even the companies he liquidated in business longer than they would have been without his input of skill and capital. In 1990 Bain Consulting was in financial trouble and Mitt Romney came back as CEO to save it.
Mitt Romnney’s success is in major contrast to Barack Obama’s, who was fired from his first two jobs (both consulting) after graduating from Columbia University; each after only one year. Barack Obama may have had additional jobs but he chose to not mention them in his two autobiographies. According to Barack Obama’s own biography these two jobs are Business International Corporation, and New York Public Interest Research Group. Business International Corporation’s area of expertise is helping companies move manufacturing overseas, and move assets overseas for tax avoidance. Don’t believe me, then Google the companies these two men worked for. .. An example of the fact that Barack Obama is a total idiot is that he got a law degree from Harvard University, worth millions of dollars in a lifetime, and then had to give up his law license because he failed to pay 17 parking tickets, and because he omitted to multiple recreational-drug use in his autobiography. Lose of the law license caused Barack Obama to lose his job at the law firm. 6/4/2012 10:11:30 AM |

^ yawn. Yeah it was misleading, welcome to politics. IMO BO's comments about Bain were more misleading. The article is right though in the sense that Romney didnt even need to say that, BO's record speaks for itself, no need to pour gas on a fire 6/5/2012 9:27:30 AM |

In advance of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's speech Wednesday to the NAACP, a liberal group headed by a former New York Times reporter and ex-Media Matters executive have produced a video "satire" that claims blacks don't like Romney, who they dub so white he makes "Wonder Bread look like pumpernickel."
The YouTube from "The Message," an online "media hub," is described as a satirical video of Romney getting advice on what to say to the civil rights group. Or, as they said in a release, the video "lacerates Romney and his advisors as they prepare for his speech to NAACP in Houston on Wednesday."
The lead "advisor" in the video is described as the brainchild of the 1988 Willie Horton ads and the 2004 swift boat campaign. He states bluntly that "blacks don't like us and we're about to give a speech to a whole lot of them."
He also says to the candidate, "you are so white, you are extremely white, you make Wonder Bread look like pumpernickel," before advising the Romney actor never fully seen to "go on out there and get all Mormon, Martin Luther King on them, you're going to be great."
According to a news release, The Message said it plans to use videos to "say things that Democrats are afraid to say, connect with young voters-many of whom are alienated by today's political climate, and give smart and insightful voices an opportunity to contribute to the debate."
The group is directed by Razor & Tie co-founder Cliff Chenfeld, former Media Matters for America president Eric Burns, former AOL chief creative officer and co-founder of theknot.com Michael Wolfson, and former New York Times journalist Andrew Zipern. "The Message's unique mix of entertainment experience, political and messaging savvy, online creativity and distribution expertise, and a journalist's eye makes it the platform Democrats and progressives need to lift their voices above the Republicans and have a cultural conversation that molds this election cycle and beyond," added the release. Romney Campaign Trashes Restaurant & Leaves a Bad Taste in Owner's Mouth\ Posted by Adriana Velez on June 14, 2012 at 4:38 PM
When "Hurricane Romney Campaign" blew through Main Street Cafe in Council Bluffs, Iowa last week, they left a big ol' mess behind. The cafe hosted a small roundtable for Romney. But the staff broke a framed photo of owner Diane Bauer's dead father (among other things), wouldn't let customers use the restrooms, and wadded up and tossed away her tablecloths. And Mitt Romney never even bothered to introduce himself to Diane like Rick Perry did when he visited.
Word of Diane's shock went online, which is when Romney called her to apologize -- but the call totally backfired because Diane felt like he was mocking her!

I'll help you out since you're a month behind:
Quote : | "Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney held three posh fundraisers in the posher precincts of the New York resort community of the Hamptons on Sunday as part of the massive ongoing fundraising push that helped him pull in $106 million in June, with hopes to raise another $100 million each month from now until the election.
But when you're charging people $50,000 for lunch or dinner (or $75,000 per couple), you can't always expect them to sound in tune with the downtrodden American workers whose plight Romney has made a focal point of his campaign. Indeed, it's extraordinary that the displays of ostentatious wealth at political fundraisers come in for as little notice as they do, and to what an extent political donations are considered socially akin to charitable giving when they do not have any direct charitable impact.
Two stories that came out of the Romney fundraisers in fact suggest that that in a post-Citizens United world of largely unfettered campaign giving, the only brake on the power of the wealthy within the political system may turn out to be social. What if it were considered déclassé to give large sums to candidates or committees within a democracy, and especially in a nation where so many have other needs? Further close observation of the people who attend major-dollar fundraisers could begin to bring about such a possible future.
From the Los Angeles Times:
The line of Range Rovers, BMWs, Porsche roadsters and one gleaming cherry red Ferrari began queuing outside of Revlon Chairman Ronald Perelman's estate off Montauk Highway long before Romney arrived, as campaign aides and staffers in white polo shirts emblazoned with the logo of Perelman's property -- the Creeks -- checked off names under tight security.
A New York City donor a few cars back, who also would not give her name, said Romney needed to do a better job connecting. "I don't think the common person is getting it," she said from the passenger seat of a Range Rover stamped with East Hampton beach permits. "Nobody understands why Obama is hurting them.
"We've got the message," she added. "But my college kid, the baby sitters, the nails ladies -- everybody who's got the right to vote -- they don't understand what's going on. I just think if you're lower income -- one, you're not as educated, two, they don't understand how it works, they don't understand how the systems work, they don't understand the impact."
And from The New York Times: A woman in a blue chiffon dress poked her head out of a black Range Rover here on Sunday afternoon and yelled to an aide to Mitt Romney. "Is there a V.I.P. entrance? We are V.I.P." ....
A few cars back, Ted Conklin, the owner of the American Hotel in Sag Harbor, long a favorite of the Hamptons' well-off and well-known, could barely contain his displeasure with Mr. Obama. "He is a socialist. His idea is find a problem that doesn't exist and get government to intervene," Mr. Conklin said from inside a gold Mercedes, as his wife, Carol Simmons, nodded in agreement.
Ms. Simmons paused to highlight what she said was her husband's generous spirit. "Tell them who's on your yacht this weekend! Tell him!"
Over Mr. Conklin's objections, Ms. Simmons disclosed that a major executive from Miramax was on Mr. Conklin's 75-foot yacht, because, she said, there were no rooms left at the hotel." |
