Its a non story now, but if we get to end of preseason and he is still not getting reps with the 1's then it becomes an issue. Offensive and Defensive Lineman learn by doing in NFL. He should be somewhere on the OL starting Week 1, because that was one of the worst units in NFL last year.

I do think it matters. Every rep counts, especially for rookies/new additions. I think this is just another example of Rhule being a bad coach. This "oh they gotta earn it" bullshit is ridiculous. They're all professionals, they all know a top 10 draft pick at a position of need is going to be the starter over the same bunch of guys who were terrible last year, just like they all know Mayfield is going to be the starter over Darnold. Not getting those guys the maximum reps at their positions is just piss poor coaching.

I don't think preseason games really matter much, definitely not nearly as much as practice. They're really just another way to make a buck and also give some reps to the fringe roster type players.

Ickey almost got Darnold blowed up on the TD pass when the defensive end flew past him. I guess a few more reps in practice would've eliminated the learning curve from the ACC to the NFL.

I think the battle between Corral and Walker is a lot closer than the one between Mayfield and Darnold and Ickey vs the world for LT. Doesn't matter now as Walker is QB3 by default. But it would have been interesting if Corral hadn't have gotten hurt. Would they have found a trade partner to unload Darnold on for pennies on the dollar and a significant amount of salary retention? My guess is yes.

I actually like Laviska, he was really productive at Colorado and has always seemed underused to me. Haven't watched any like 20 min videos to see why he was or wasn't worth the trade or not / if he was poorly utilized by the Jags, but I like it.

The real question to me is, who does this displace? Andre Roberts or Shi Smith seems likely to me. *Maybe* Zylstra, but Rhule likes his multi tool usage.

I think Smith has been good enough in preseason to solidify a roster spot, and he can return kicks/punts if necessary. The consensus seems like Moore, Anderson, Marshall and Smith will be on the squad, but you never know.

and I guess we'll keep Higgins as well since we brought him in and he has chemistry with Baker from CLE
