Thinking hard about selling the '04 4runner and getting a '14 4runner.
I'm assuming that the toyota closeout event is why I can seemingly get a new '14 4runner for less than a used '14 4runner. Hell in some cases I'm seeing '12 and '13 used 4runners listed at more than brand new '14s.
Like this new '14 Trail edition is $32,882 http://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/612143833/overview/
the cheapest used '14 trail edition is $33,995 http://www.cars.com/for-sale/searchresults.action?PMmt=1-1-1&crSrtFlds=feedSegId-mkId-mdId-pseudoPrice&drvTrnId=27105&feedSegId=28705&isDealerGrouping=false&mdId=20482&mkId=20088&prMn=0&prMx=40000&requestorTrackingInfo=RTB_SEARCH&rpp=50&sf1Dir=ASC&sf1Nm=price&sf2Dir=ASC&sf2Nm=location&stkTypId=28881&trId=33543&yrId=51683&zc=23113&rd=500&searchSource=UTILITY
For those of y'all who buy cars frequently (I've had this one for 9 years, so it's been a while), how much should I be able to further negotiate off of list price, when it's already below MSRP in a closeout event?

also - drove future FIL's Soul last weekend, sweet ride for a box....Although anything is better than the old civic I use to have. Good feel, pep, a bit buzzy on the interstate (3000 @ low 70's), but overall I'd dd one.

^^I haven't found a single bit of information stating that this model will have an increase in hp. And if it doesn't, well BFD. Although, Subaru doesn't sell the Forester with a manual transmission. So I could kind of see the appeal of a sporty model with an available transmission. Of course, I have no doubt those pricks would charge too much for it.

Sure they do. The 2015 comes in a manual and premium manual. The Turbo XT version doesn't come in a manual (sucks) but there's still an option.
The Forester XT is already pretty quick (0-60 < 6 seconds). I'm assuming if they make an STI version they'll up the HP a good bit.

I'm just frustrated because there's no good decently priced AWD high clearance turbo manual cars out there any more. At least no in the US. There's no more Outback XT or Audi Allroad manual. A WRX would be nice but the ground clearance is too low for what I do a lot of weekends. A sporty Forester with a manual turbo would be sweet.
Just saw this:
http://blogs.cars.com/kickingtires/2014/04/2015-volkswagen-golf-sportwagen-first-look.html
170HP is pretty weak even with a turbo.

That was in reference to the 2015 volkswagen golf sportwagen, which sits 1" lower than the previous year models. If that's true, then that's 4.4" of clearance. 10/31/2014 12:25:19 AM |
neodata686 All American 11577 Posts user info edit post |
Ah thanks. Yeah didn't look at that. Yeah that's too low. I like the high clearance on my Outback. It's higher than almost all crossovers and even some SUVs (Jeep Cherokee). Think it's the same as a Jeep Wrangler (2014 stock). 10/31/2014 12:47:36 AM |
sumfoo1 soup du hier 41043 Posts user info edit post |
In fuzzy math yes the outback down the center could possibly have the ground clearance of my jeep down the center because your differential is tucked up high out of the way with independent suspension and mine dangles down low.
Bear in mind tho that this does not really corrilate with off-road capability as my low spot can me dodged and you are measuring from your absolute highest spot not the control arms etc. Also my low spot moves with the wheels and your high spot is best case scenario. Not to mention approach departure and break over angles are in a completely different league. 10/31/2014 6:26:17 AM |

http://www.autoblog.com/2014/10/30/mazda6-coupe-mazdaspeed-models-report/
Quote : | "The predecessor to the Mazda6, the Mazda 626, was sold in a multitude of body styles across the globe. It could, of course, be had as a sedan, but a two-door coupe, known stateside as the MX-6, was also available on the same platform. Now, a new report from Motor Trend claims that a two-door version of the modern Mazda6 could be on the way. This would be remarkable for a number of reasons, as automakers have been abandoning this type of non-luxury coupe for decades. A class that counted entries from Toyota, Nissan, Chevrolet, Dodge and Chrysler is now occupied solely by Honda with its Accord Coupe. Ignoring that, though, MT claims we'll see a two-door Mazda6 in the second half of 2016. When that new variant arrives, it will be with an even more dramatic version of the sedan's Kodo design language. Mazda could rely even more heavily on styling inspiration of the Shinari Concept, which already informs the design of the current 6 sedan, when the two- door model arrives. As for the eagerly anticipated, third-generation Mazdaspeed3, we'll also be waiting until 2016 for that one, according to MT. When it arrives, though, it should be appropriately wild, offering up 300 turbocharged horsepowers from a blown, 2.5-liter Skyactiv four-cylinder engine. Unlike the past two MS3s, the next-gen model will reportedly (finally) adopt all-wheel drive, likely in the form of some lightweight contraption. As if that's not enough good news, Motor Trend also seems to think a Mazdaspeed2 and a reborn Mazdaspeed6 are on the way. It scarcely needs mentioning, but we're doing our happy dance over this news. ^^Yeah but if the next MazdaSpeed3 is AWD that'll be great news!
^That's a good price, however the people selling that car apparently have no clue what they're selling. The car doesn't have some of the options listed. Just breezing through it I can see that no, the car doesn't have heated washer nozzles, nor an active brake differential. They list the tire sizes as being 18" diameter, but those wheels are 19's. Stated to have a 7 speaker stereo system...however even the base stereo has 9 speakers. The car has Sport Chrono, yet they failed to mention that. And with no clear shot of the center console it's impossible to tell if the car actually has heated seats and/or PASM. However, I'd still check it out if I was in the market. 11/6/2014 8:58:22 AM |
