Wow, they're calling the FRS and BRZ each manufacturer's least reliable model. What's the deal with those?

They are sports cars in the line up of otherwise boring car manufacturers...
But talk to teg... i do think there is a fuel injection problem or something. 11/20/2014 9:46:11 AM |

Fuck VW for showing, at the (in the US) LA Auto show, the Golf Wagon R. Who the fuck debuts a new model in a market where they won't sell it?
The BRZ/FRS have lots of issues, some small some large. The big problem with early models (built before March 2013) were failing direct injector seals, which would lead to blowing the engine. The direct injectors also made a lot of noise they shouldn't (referred to as noisy crickets by car owners). There is also a slight knocking noise that can come from the back of the car (trunk area) that has something to do with the way the trunk lid was welded (I think - could be wrong about this). Then there's the Subaru head unit, which is a steaming POS (though that doesn't affect Scion models). I went back to the dealership twice because the factory speakers did a really good job of making the door panels buzz and vibrate (hello shit QC). That's all that comes to mind off the top of my head.
Don't forget of course, that this car is mainly targeted at auto enthusiasts. And auto enthusiasts tend to be more particular and anal about their cars than say, the average Impreza buyer.

New (to me) 4 runner 2003, 106k, v6 Limited, kind of beat cosmetically but very solid mechanically Should make a solid 2nd in OH (snow, space, reliability)
First SUV since my first auto at 17 (a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee w/ 130k)
Compared to my m coupe w/ aftermarket suspension, this thing feels like it's going to tip 11/21/2014 6:05:31 PM |

I don't know quality-wise, but the latest Pathfinder is a glorified station wagon based on the Altima. V6 w/CVT transmission equipped only. 11/24/2014 10:33:15 AM |

Quote : | "Two minutes later a white Z06 rockets down the hill at turn 12, its V8 producing a shriek not heard all day. Despite the high heat and being driven hard already for many laps, and riding on tires with a fair amount of running on them, the lap timer flashes 1 minute, 29.8 seconds as Pilgrim crosses the line. Info pulled from the onboard -- and must-have for track drivers -- Cosworth-developed Performance Data Recorder’s telemetry shows a 1.5 lateral-g spike. Consider: a Camaro Z/28.R’s pole-position time at Road Atlanta for October’s IMSA Continental Tire Challenge Series race was 1:31.6 -- and the Z06’s lap time puts it within three seconds of the slowest qualifier, an Audi R8 LMS, in this year’s Petit Le Mans’ GT Daytona class at the same circuit.
When you realize a good set of slicks should knock four or five seconds off the Corvette versus race-car delta, the day’s final result isn’t just interesting as anticipated, but rather shocking. Of all of today's series-production performance cars, if you measure success by lap time, the Z06 is a remarkable achievement. The fact it is equally at home on quiet public roads on the way to and from the circuit, or as a daily driver, make it outright astounding." |

^^it's inevitable at this point, thanks to government regulations and pressure from environmental groups. CVT transmissions, electric power steering, downsizing engines and the death of naturally aspirated engines are starting to become realities.
More and more I appreciate the domestic car makers; Chevy, Ford and Dodge. Because unlike a lot of other companies they actually care about pumping out super high performance vehicles that are within the realm of affordability for a lot of people. Meanwhile most foreign companies claim they can't make cheap sports cars because they can't afford it (while meanwhile several of those companies are more successful then ever) or they only cater to the high end of the market.

Originally I planned to get a C6 on the cheap once the C7 was out, but the C7 is such as step forward I can't bring myself to buy a C6. I may still buy a C6 Z06 because they are beautiful to me, and will most likely be the last 7.0L V8 produced.
^^ I think a large part of the impending death of performance N/A cars is the cultural shift. Most young people only look at cars as an appliance. I can't even count how many times I've had folks stop me to ask about my car and eventually ask hows the MPG. I think "Did you just ask me MPG when you are looking at a cammed V8 in a 4k lb sedan" . 11/26/2014 3:01:32 PM |

that LT1 and LT4 derivative are things of beauty and engineering marvel. I'd like to know more about that auto. I didn't miss a beat. At 100k as tested, that should come in right around the cayman GT4. When I find time to actually enjoy a car, those are on the short list. I do wonder if this is all just really good marketing. People said how remarkable the m3 was on track, and it feels like driving a couch. I wonder how stiff and well cooled this car actually is 11/27/2014 10:12:02 AM |

The Ford GT is gorgeous. That article is a bit confusing though. Only 343 made, yet 200 allocated for Canada? I'm gonna go ahead and call BS on that claim. Ford made way more than that.
