Is it legal to mount a kegerator and generator in the back of a pickup truck and the people in the back to drink beers as long as they don't get out of the truck bed? 5/28/2013 11:02:20 AM |
djeternal Bee Hugger 62661 Posts user info edit post |
^ I would assume yes, based on what has already been said about the legality of drinking in the back of a truck.
After all, a keg is just a really big open container.
And that is an awesome idea, other than the fact that the generator would be really loud. Solar panel + Batteries would be pretty sweet. Probably more expensive at first, but cheaper in the long run and totally silent.

A 50 gallon trashcan filled with ice can keep beer cold for a long time, but a kegerator would look more badass. 5/28/2013 11:46:01 AM |

Or, I guess you could use the same concept as an RV. Alternator that charges the batteries using your truck engine, and just plug them up to charge whenever you are near a power source.
Thanks Str8BacardiL for giving me the next idea that my GF is going to get pissed at me for.

Here's a stupid one: Let's say I fly by the fuzz hiding in the median and he/she clocks me, but can't pull out immediately due to traffic. I realize what's going down and immediately pull off to the shoulder and get out of the car and pretend to look under my hood for "trouble." Is there a reason the officer could find to still pull behind me and write a ticket? Let's pretend it was on a bend and they didn't see me pull off onto the shoulder... 5/28/2013 10:12:54 PM |

Why wouldn't they just wait for traffic to clear? But you could always be cited for § 20-161 (b) which states that no person shall park or leave standing any vehicle upon the shoulder of a public highway unless the vehicle can be clearly seen by approaching drivers from a distance of 200 feet in both directions and does not obstruct the normal movement of traffic.

There are slight differences between the levels (can I use my ECD now?) and what constitutes a use of it (i.e. pointing a gun at person).5/29/2013 7:10:47 AM |

hasn't this been addressed numerous times in this thread? he basically said your CCH is linked to your plates so he already knows going up to your car that you could be carrying legally.
if it's a routine traffic stop and you're a law abiding citizen i imagine it's not a big deal if you don't disclose. but i too, welcome another response from the police] 6/11/2013 2:38:00 PM |

We all know it's linked to your driver's license; however, that doesn't cover many scenarios. For example: the last time I was pulled, unless the cop had lightning quick typing, he didn't run my plate before approaching my vehicle. And one isn't always driving their own vehicle... I often drive vehicles not under my name.
Also, I thought it was linked to your license, which I thought was separate from plate/registration. Is it linked to both? Just one? Or are licenses and plates also linked?

Is there any limitation on the direction a radar gun can work? i.e. is it usable on traffic headed towards you, headed away from you, and passing that you are perpendicular to? Or does it only work in certain directions?
Also, I've heard that if you are clocked at the speed limit but your brake lights are on, or if an officer sees signs of braking (i.e. nose of the car dives) and then clocks you at the speed limit, you can be issued a ticket even though you were never actually observed speeding. Is that true? 6/11/2013 4:03:00 PM |
wdprice3 BinaryBuffonary 45912 Posts user info edit post |
The officer's opinion of your speed is what matters (officially, it's a LEO's "estimation" of your speed... which evidence shows to vary greatly in many cases among LEOs, thus why it's bullshit). The radar reading isn't required, just further evidence. 6/11/2013 4:11:54 PM |

my guess would be that if you can slow down by the time he has clocked you at the speed limit, they probably aren't going to pull you over. that is unless you slam on brakes and nearly cause people to hit you because you just went from 20 over down to the speed limit.6/11/2013 4:16:19 PM |

what's the quickest way to get in touch with a police officer in a non-emergency situation? like if i'm broken down on the highway and can't make it to the shoulder or some other event that i may need an officer's assistance quickly, but not 911 quickly.

I've heard two stories of NC CCH permit holders being "verbally abused" and questioned "harshly" for not disclosing even though there was no duty to do so. As we all know, some CCH permit holders like to embellish LEO-related stories, so I take them with a grain of salt. Didn't know if you had done/seen/heard otherwise.6/12/2013 9:08:00 AM |

Nah. I've only charged a CCH permit violation once but I ran into a lot of non-CCH'ers with the "Oh, I have a gun, its on the dash..." when I was 99% sure they had just taken it out of the console and threw it up there when they got stopped. 6/12/2013 6:12:41 PM |

Is there any laws against those damn headlights that have the blue tint to them? They hurt my eyes. 7/1/2013 10:11:47 PM |
Knarf Veteran 349 Posts user info edit post |
technically, yes. there is a law that bans forward facing blue lights on a non police/emergency vehicle. This mainly is referring to LED or strobes, so the blue tint head lights are kind of a gray area as far as I can tell. I have never charged anyone for headlights, but I have for forward facing LEDs 7/2/2013 3:41:11 AM |

would you pull someone over that had something that seemed to be purposely obstructing their license plate? i was following this mustang to work this morning that was modded and the guy had this medallion like object dangling out of his trunk over his license plate. it was just big enough with enough tether to sway and prevent you from reading the last 3 digits of the plate.
it could have been there totally by accident, but it seemed purposeful. even so, with it blocking so much is that enough to warrant a closer look at this guy?] 7/2/2013 7:41:00 AM |

Assuming your talking about marijuana? An ounce of cocaine would be trafficking ...
But lets assume it's split up in to three equal bags, each person claims one. Then sure.
Let's add a scale, some money, some good sense clear bags... Then probably not, one or all three for felony PWISD depending on the location(s) where said drugs were located.
Also, if no one claims anything and it's in a mutually accessible place. All get charged with constructive possession equally.
All of these could be spun a million different ways, every time is different.7/22/2013 11:39:43 AM |

In Wake County? A confession...
In almost all "complicated" cases unless it's a habitual felon or something most misd or felony will be pleaded and/or dropped.

Some cities have city code that cover that. But if you can articulate it correctly it could be construed as an abusive gesture/language used to provoke violence which is covered under NCGS7/22/2013 11:55:33 AM |
