I’ve been on a real roll of not realizing I’m the 49th post lately

nothing about “peace a calm” and everything about mourning the loss of another Black person killed by the hands of the state and the absolute need to change policing in this country

I see that he was appointed by a Board of Governors.

He seemed like such a lackey for President Trump, I assumed that he was a presidential appointment.

Even if not a presidential appointee, does he not serve the President? I always wondered why he was still there too. Can the chief executive not ask people to resign or have someone removed from a government post?

I think Biden could replace the whole BOG who could then replace Dejoy, but he won't bc of "norms" or whatever

Be honest: even if he vociferously condemned Israel, what good what it do without immediate sanctions/withholding of aid? It's lose-lose for him and while that doesn't make it OK, it at least makes logical sense for him to kick the can down the road, politically.

Is it the lack of words that bothers you more, or the lack of (completely unrealistic) immediate consequences?

Thanks for bringing that up! Here's a thread that totally debunks it.

https://twitter.com/sarahleah1/status/1392479694382043141

And then two days ago, Israel bombed a building housing apartments and media offices (AP and Al Jazeera), claiming Hamas was using it as a human shield. They also claimed they shared evidence of this with US government. Unfortunately, our secretary of state disagreed.

https://www.axios.com/israel-gaza-ap-building-hamas-blinken-9de9ccf0-b695-4e0b-8b25-974aec28d4c0.html

Turns out, this is all projection, since human shields have historically been an official strategy of the IDF. And not just "firing weapons from civilian areas" or "housing terrorist headquarters in civilian areas" (which Israel also does), but using actual human beings as literal shields.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_shield#Israel

As a general rule of thumb, it's best not to trust the word of the IDF, proven liars and mercenaries of an apartheid state.

I would also like to point out that Gaza is tiny, almost half the size of Chicago. It's also one of the most densely populated areas of the world, at 5046 people/sq km. Israel can easily claim that Hamas is in the vicinity of civilians at all times, and they do.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking.

The people who claim Hamas is using humans as shields, do they expect Hamas all to gather out in the middle of the desert and launch missles from there, so Israel can take them out in one swoop?

And doesn't the Israeli military have bases and troops constantly in civilian areas?

One more thing...the IDF's claims don't even line up with the Geneva convention definition of "human shield". People must be deliberately moved to strategic military sites (something only Israel has done).

According to article, he approved the sale BEFORE this latest flareup on May 5, and even though he shouldn't have done it to begin with, you posted that link insinuating that he approved it right during the middle of this ordeal. He's also called for a ceasefire, and while that's not exactly a tough thing to say/do, your disingenuous attempts to paint him as the villain in this whole thing are pretty lame. Kinda like it's completely disingenuous to act as if Hamas doesn't exist/actively contribute to the problem. Most Palestinians I know, actually HATE Hamas, even if they also hate the way the Israeli government is acting.

Biden inherited this latest mess from Trump, and while he and Obama certainly helped to create it years ago, this latest incident isn't something he masterfully orchestrated.

If you want other people to take you seriously and start changing their perception/favorability of Israel, it doesn't help to omit key elements/facts-- it actually makes it easier to write you off as an extremist who shouldn't be taken seriously.

Nope, the sale was proposed on May 5 and approved on Monday.

It is so fucking funny that you try to pull this card in every issue of foreign affairs, as if the three immigrants you know speak for all of a particular country. Like it or not, Hamas holds more seats in the PLC than any other party. And the reason is because they are the only real fighting force left in Palestine. Israel has beaten everyone else into irrelevance or submission.

Israel policy is a bipartisan affair. Schumer approved of moving the US embassy to Jerusalem. Biden kept it there. And he is continuing the same policy of supporting and funding an apartheid state.
