Hes been to nc state like 12 times in the past year...much more than any other school. With that said, he visited south carolina last weekend and is now making his announcement next week. Also, theres been multiple crystal balls on 247 for south carolina over the past couple days. He IS scheduled to be at State this weekend with JR Walker for camp...so itll be real interesting to see what happens there.

Losing him would hurt...with as close as hes been to the program for the last year

like ^ said, we've been in good shape the whole time. the timing would probably favor SCar. he is (was?) scheduled to visit State this Friday...so if he doesn't come or if he cancels the visit, then that should tell you all you need to know. if he does come...then there's probably still a chance we get him. sounds like he had previously been planning a fall announcement...so to move it up like that after visiting SCar is probably not a good sign for us

^Not sure there is always a connection between a player moving or announcing right after a visit always for that school. Can just as easy be a visit that wasn't good that means they know they like a previous place because that visit crosses that school off the list. I'm sure plenty of examples of both happening.

In the last 5 years, SC has had 10 players drafted. Clowney was the only defensive player.

In the last 5 years, we have had 14 players drafted & 8 were defense.

Surely that weighs heavily in his decision.

I think I've heard many/most high level prospects don't worry about that quite as much. They have confidence in their abilities and talents and, so, are less concerned whether the coaches will get them drafted.

But I'm sure it's different for every player

Also USC got a new coach 2 years ago so I'm not sure last 5 years is particularly relevant.

Kinda like people thinking Rivers and Wilson should make qb's excited to play for doeren

How often does a recruit publically say "I wasn't impressed" or "I didn't enjoy it" after they visit a school?

I think it's whether they "rave" or just sorta say the rote things, I heard he raved.

I mean the biggest clue will be whether he shows up for a scheduled visit at state this weekend. And the biggest clue after that will be when he says a school name in 6 days.

He said “They just finalized some stuff in my brain I was thinking about,” Jackson said, after the visit. “They answered all my questions. I took away a lot from this visit. It puts them in a strong place with me, a more solid place.

“This visit really set them apart from some other schools and really made them stand out.”

Most believe Jackson committed on his visit and just wanted to have a public announcement.

Though I imagine we'll keep recruiting him and you have to keep in mind that Jackson only took 1 OV and it was to SC, a LOT of kids get swept up in that first OV. So we have a few months to convince him and his mom to take an OV to NC State.

Josh Belk was a 4-star recruit out of high school. ... Former Clemson defensive tackle Josh Belk, who was with the Tigers during spring practice, will join the South Carolina football team for the 2018 season.

Expect savion to pick usc next week. But state coaches still have 6 months to change his mind.

Things look really good for 4* safety jr walker, 4* rb zonovan knight and 3* safety khalid martin. Walker and knight will prolly commit before the summer is over.

Apparently one of the head gurus on the south carolina 247 site said that there is reason to believe that savion will pick nc state today at his announcement. Two analysts have changed their cbs from south carolina to nc state and foggy just tonight. Seems the fans on that board believes what this guy says as all of them are believing it. Gives the announcement later today some intrigue atleast

I'd say Patrick Wilson is the biggest "get" of the Donuts era. However Savion is a great player to nab early in this class.

Our recruiting is picking up a ton of momentum right now. This could be our best haul since the Chuck days...and probably better because it will actually fit our needs and most of the guys will make it to campus.

Lets hope we can have a good season and keep the '19 guys and build to '20.

I believe Frazier was the highest rated recruit using his composite 247 score. 247 was much higher on him than Rivals. Payton Wilson was the second highest rated recruit using the same metric and it’s similar - he was ranked much higher on 247 than Rivals. But 247 composite score is some kind of average of all the ranking sites (maybe a weighted average idk)

Flipping a recruit from FSU > flipping a recruit from UNC

Also, I miss the excitement of recruiting during the Amato era. I just don't give a shit about it now. I think DeMario Pressley was the highest rated recruit we ever signed, with Derek Morris ( ) coming in 2nd.

I'm not sure I agree with that for now a NC recruit. For the in state recruits that want to play for a top program, we're always gonna have "but don't you want to stay close" as a potential Ace in the hole. Beating an in state rival that has all the same selling points is more crucial for long ten success. I think I've read a recruiting guy say our first goal for top in state recruits is to be the in-state school of choice.

I would guess Frasier flipped #1 bc he wanted to stay close to home. Wilson flipped bc he preferred our coahces/school/coaches whatever. The location won for Frasier, the program won for Wilson.

this has DeMario has our #1 recruit since 2000 with Toney Baker #2. but there must be a mistake because there's no Derek Morris on that list. i know he was a 5* on Rivals.

I miss the excitement of the Amato era...in recruiting and in-game. It was really exciting getting those one or two big recruits on the lines and then fill up the rest of the spots with duds. Or sign several great skill players, only to have half of them not qualify and never show up on campus.

Then there was the excitement of not knowing whether we were going to have an awesome game like upsetting FSU or drop a turd and have fifteen false starts and lose to Wake.

Amato era....soooooo exciting..

ehhh...it's a pointless debate, really. if you flip a recruit then, sure, it's more impressive to "steal" that recruit from a national power than to steal a recruit from UNC. but it's not like Payton Wilson didn't have an extremely impressive offer list and he could've easily committed to a national power. and while Frasier obviously didn't pan out, the better way to compare the two players would be their recruiting rankings.

Transfers and Juco's have never figured into recruiting rankings as far as I've seen. Also, UNC got a baseball commit during the Butch era that was known to be going first round in MLB draft but was a 4 star recruit and it helped their rankings artificially and he actually went through the charade of signing with UNC in Feb I believe, and then pulled out and threw his name in the MLB draft. Scout/Rivals doesn't go back and "re-do" things once Feb is over for football team rankings.

I know lost to Wake this year, numbnuts. We lost to a good Wake team and it wasn't because we had a bunch of stupid penalties and turnovers.

Amato's tenure was a fucking roller coaster. It was fun at times, but definitely wasn't worth it.
