Saw Quavaris Crouch visiting today on twitter. Just getting that kid on campus is huge for DD. Let's hope he sees what is going on in-state and starts buying in.

Harding is only a few miles from where I live so I might try and check him out in person this fall if we are in the mix.

Bambard had all of his confidence obliterated over the last 2 years, he still has a really strong leg(see his kickoffs). He probably was a top prospect out of HS, but you can't really predict that kind of stuff. Look at Roberto Aguayo out of FSU, #1 K in college for 2 straight years, drafted high, doesn't even last a year with the team that drafted him.

Our last 2 LS's were from the same training company this guy uses and they both had 5* ratings and have been great for us, so I think this is a solid pick-up. Just love the fact that UNC flipped Little just to help with Clark and then they don't even land Clark and we pick up another top 10 LS.

^I'm glad he's on campus, and I know some sites are suggesting we're in better standing with him than most realize, but let's not lose perspective here. Crouch is on campus today because his brother is moving in today and while he's here with him he's going to meet with the staff and check out the facilities. Will be interesting to see if we can land enough guys and win enough games to keep him interested. He and Drake Thomas at LB would be scary.

Also Bambard wasn't even a good high school kicker. I'm still convinced DD was banging his mom or something. Bambard just doesn't have the mental makeup to be a kicker. He obviously has a good leg, but being good in practice doesn't matter if you wilt at the slightest of pressure.

But I digress, I'm sure this long snapper will be fine. But yeah, maybe don't call them 5 star recruits when the people giving them those ratings are the people the kids families are paying them a good chunk of change to train them.

Should have 3 OV's this weekend(4* CB, 3* OT, 3* JUCO DE) and one unofficial(Hudson, DE/LB, who just got his offer a week or so ago is bringing his mom back to visit).

Hopefully we get at least one more commit before Harris. Think Miller(3* OT, #1 OT in NC) is set to announce 6/29, all signs pointing to UNC or NCSU(he OV'd there last weekend and will be here this weekend).

^Apparently no one could be at his school for the announcement because of the July 4th holiday. So they pushed it back a week so he could do it at the school. All signs still point to us, most say he's been a silent for a couple of weeks but wants to have the big announcement.

Commitments of note:
6/29 - 3* OT Triston Miller
7/9 - 4* DT Joshua Harris

Would finish up our OL recruitment if we landed Miller. Harris would wrap up our recruitment at DT and we'd still be looking for 1 more DE(ideally 3* JUCO Jacoby Jones).

Would love to get miller if for no other reason than to have another in-state recruiting win against UNC. Ive never gotten the warm and fuzzies about his recruitment however i felt the same about cj clark. We shall see

this dude who is all over their recruiting thread and "in the know" on offers being pulled is trying to explain that they aren't getting any highly rated in-state players because they are gonna get better out-of-state players. but then he's also talking about how they're gonna "beat" us for DT Jaden McKenzie (#39 in NC) and DE Christian Rorie (#54 in NC) and how they can hopefully flip Keziah Everett (#60 in NC) from ECU.

Rorie deciding this week, will be interesting if Duke takes him and further kicks them while they're down.

I find the whole scholarship pulling deal hilarious from UNC. They really want these kids, recruit them, spend tons of time, then once they find out they aren't going there, they "pull the offer" just to say they didn't get rejected, haha, it's so funny.

Though I do think there is some truth to the Drake Thomas offer pull. There were rumors that he was going to UNC camps and just bad-mouthing them and basically there just recruiting other kids. Some allege he was recruiting for State the whole time, but I think it was more just recruiting against UNC because I think he really considered going to Clemson.

And it's funny that UNC would say a guy like Drake Thomas has a "very low ceiling" when he has legit offers from some big-time programs. I'm not saying the guy has an insanely high ceiling, but I'd say his floor is Boulware from Clemson a couple of years ago(3-4 year starter, productive, QB of the defense, and might develop into a NFL player). If nothing else, Drake Thomas has been one hell of a recruiter for us, so landing him helped us land Jackson...who then helped us plan Clark....Harris...Miller, etc.

So I just saw that a lot of predictions for the DE Christian Rorie are for Duke now. We were leading for him for a while. He even did an interview about how coach Patrick was Pitching him on him, Jackson, Clark and Harris being the next great D-line class to follow in the Chubb class’ footsteps. What’s changed recently?

It sounds like we have a pretty good shot at Jacoby Jones, who is the top JUCO DE in the nation, so I would imagine those two are related. Probably wouldn't hurt to have a slightly older guy at DE for 2019 season, as Babros (Sr.) and Smith-Williams (R-Sr.) are the only seniors we'd have (and no juniors).

I've seen some scouts saying Rorie would be best-served to consider moving to OT, as it stands now he's likely going to be a DT in college, and he's not on the same level as the 2 we have currently.

Rorie has a good frame and good physical upside, but he's going to need a couple of years and to really hone in on a position(DE vs DT). Jones is a much better prospect at this point and actually fits our need of a DE much better, we're fairly set at DT, esp if McNeil slides inside on passing downs.

Think we'd love for Rorie to wait and see if we miss on Jones to potentially bring him in as see how he develops, but I think Duke/NCSU have been his top 2 for a while(it was just NC State but then Duke made him a priority), so I'd be surprised if he didn't sign with Duke, though I know UNC fans assume he is picking them.

Rorie is a project and no way we pass up a guy like Jacoby Jones who could play early for a guy that is going to need 2-3 years to be a contributor.

Rorie is that guy I could see us reaching out to later in the season if we miss on some other guys but I think he realized he missed his chance to run with the Pack and isn't going to sit on his offers and risk that at other schools.

But I'm sure the headline will be "Duke beats out fellow NC schools UNC and NC State for 3* DL Rorie", when all parties know what the deal is. I know UNC would claim we were after him hard if he picked them when we haven't really been on him that much in a month or so.

I’d take him anyways. Local kid. Good size. Redshirt him, have the JUCO DE for two years, then once he is gone Rorie could step in as a RS-Sophomore ready to contribute. I just don’t want to see this guy go to Duke or UNC and end up making a play to win a game against us in a few years, knowing that he could have been on our team.

Our coaches think he's going to be a DT, I don't see him playing DE for us.

At DT for 2019 you have:
Murchinson(RS-SR)
Martin(RS-JR)
Frazier(RS-JR)
Gibson(RS-SO)
McCrae(RS-FR or true SO)
Potentially McNeil(RS-FR or true SO)
Harris(FR)
Clark(FR)

Don't think we can just take flyers on guys like Rorie and hope he develops, esp when he was the 3rd ranked DT on our board(behind Clark and Harris). Hell it might be a couple of years before guys like Clark or Harris have a shot at starting with Gibson and Frazier slotted to play a lot this year.

Definitely okay with missing out on Rorie. Especially if he goes to Duke.

UNC is striking out on just about everyone these days...especially when it comes to the most important positions (D-line, O-line, and QB). This could be a historically bad class for them. Especially if they don't come out of the gate blazing with victories (not going to be easy with Cal and UCF).
