he's a 3* and had offers from Arizona State, Arizona, Iowa State, and Colorado State...would assume he was gonna pick up more offers if he hadn't committed this early (and will still pick up offers because that's just how recruiting works). i don't know a ton about him...but i don't think this is a "let's offer him since he's Ryan Finley's brother" situation

i'm optimistic the QB position will be solid going forward...between McKay, Leary, Hockman, and now Finley (2020) i feel confident somebody will emerge as a legit QB. also i feel confident somebody will transfer...but as long as we have a good QB then that's not a big deal.

Not surprisingly but UNC is trying to get in on a few of our commits...CJ Clark, Savion Jackson, Josh Harris. Maybe others. Sounds like we’re really solid with everybody, but Clark may be a bit of a worry since he was high on UNC earlier in his recruitment. I think all those guys expect to enroll early, so Mack and UNC don’t have much time.

Clark is the only worry because the UNC influence in his family is strong. The main reason it was such a surprise when he committed to us. Hes supposed to be at the game today. If hes not...thats gonna ramp up the worry for many. I just dont see him flipping. Hes supposedly very close with multiple members of pack 19

Mack wasting his time with Harris and Jackson.

UNC fans were holding out hope for Clark and Miller, because they believed they finished 2nd for both of them. The funny thing is, neither of them said UNC finished 2nd after their announcements, all had them 3rd or lower on their lists.

Clark should be on campus today and I believe he's set to be an early enrollee. Signing day is 3 weeks away, honestly not sure Mack will have time to build a relationship and win these guys over.

Problem with this "Mack is going to come in and save our recruiting class", is the timing window is just small. Mack has reportedly run off 4 commits(most agree the players were borderline P5 takes) but with 3 weeks to go, no DC, no OC, I just don't know how they expect to flip enough guys to fill up an entire class.

I expect you'll see Mack focusing on JUCO and post-grad options in the 2019 class and then he'll try to re-establish their in-state recruiting in 2020. If any of our kids don't sign early, I'd be a little bit concerned.

Seems like Triston Miller (Ledford leaving) and Jamious Griffin (GT coach change, generally blowing up) could be battles to keep committed.

Losing Griffin would obviously suck, but I think the GT stuff is overblown. Dude has zero relationship with that coaching staff. Honestly I'd be more worried about VT or possibly some powerhouse school coming in late. I'm sure Kitchings and Doeren have him as their top priority though.

As for GT, there probably isn't much "stuff" there yet, but his brother plays there and he apparently didn't consider them only bc of triple option. He isn't signing next week so GT has a few months to build those relationships.

Who knows, of course, just posting what counts as news in the recruiting world when we're only taking a few more players.

Ledford is 100% gone, regardless of announcement, as is our graphics/social media guy Tyler McEntire. Both formerly of App State and now re-joining the band at App State.

Miller was the most likely flip, as he essentially said he only committed to us because of his relationship with Ledford. So this was expected, I'd expect him to OV UL in the next week or so and pull the trigger.

Griffin is saying in every way he can that he is 100% committed to NC State and his family seems to love the school as well, that being said, he picked up a 4th star and he's talking about taking OV's to a couple of schools(Auburn and I think Miami). The GT and VT stuff is overblown. He could have picked them months ago and didn't. Obviously GT switching offenses has to help, but at the same time, no reason to think they're even involved at this point. Problem with Griffin is that he isn't likely to sign next week, so you're looking at 2-3 months of teams pursuing him and I believe he has 4 OV's left to take.

Yeah any time the primary recruiter leaves for another job, those guys are the ones you have to worry about leaving. It sucks, but it happens.

Also was the graphics guy the one who sent the NC STATE NEEDS = BALLERS letters? If so, big big loss.

Miller taking visits to UL, FSU and South Carolina. Only reason dude was coming here was ledford. Peace out brother...prolly a better idea to choose a school that you are gonna be comfortable at for 4-5 years than chase a position coach.

Griffin says his commitment is "solid as a diamond" but isnt signing on the 19th and plans to take more visits, auburn specifically. Another case of an 18 year old having no idea what the hell is even coming out of his mouth

Miller visiting UNC, USC, and potentially FSU and UL. Hoping he ends up at USC, just to have him out of the ACC and don't want to hear the UNC fans gloating about flipping him and don't want Ledford to get him haha.

^^Na that was one of our coaches. McEntire is the guy that did all of the recruiting graphics from twitter, where they had the recruits on the covers of magazines, did the GoT NC State mash ups, the NC State/Venom graphic, etc. He was actually doing a really good job and all of the recruits were posting his graphics all over social media talking about how much they liked them. Even the guys we didn't land posted some of the graphics.
