Not as much as I would have liked but about as much as we could have expected.

The comments on the forums are already getting ridiculous

""OK, here to take my beating like a real man. Come on you Red and Blue Ragers have at it. I know you want a peice of Smitty. Watch out, I do bite back.

Well, I was expecting the 3 year probation, 3-4 schollys per year. 15 schollys, a little harsh as it hurts the 2* players, not the 3 and 4 star players. Heels will find a way around that one AKA "disadvantaged culture hardship" schollys or something like that. So we end up with a few more "walk ons". The bowl ban? I'm like Jbrd on that one. I predicted none so got that one wrong too. Did not see the value as recruits do not go to a college because they can play in a bowl game unless it's BCS, they go where they will improve and will enjoy their college experience. Since all the recruits are signed we are set so the 2012 ban does not hurt our recruiting. If this had come out before signing day then it might have. We will be back in the bowl picture for 2013 and depending on how Fedora does 1st season, that will be the key to getting great recruits 2013 and on.

OK I'm done. Feeling pretty good it's over and take the smackdown and get back up more determined than ever. Great coach, great AD, NC in Basketball this year, Foxy will probably have us back at the CWS, we will win the Capital One Cup, and also the other award which name escapes me.

Whoot!!! Go Tar Heels!!! #Heelblood!!! #Ramsblood!!! Eat NCAA sanctions for breakfast, pass them out the back just before bed.

Oh, BTW, you Wolfpups make sure the name on that check from your bowl appearance this year is spelled TAR HEELS. Yeeeeeeeehhaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!""

dude is already proclaiming a Championship in BBall...please...what a moron.

^, ^^

Carolina fans make up the largest contingent of assholes on the planet. Douchebaggery is as defining a trait for them as promiscuity for a prostitute. The social media wasteland doubles as a microcosm of their real-world behavior and as a sponge, absorbing their witless, inane circle-jerking and oozing it out to the rest of the world. Like seriously: you can't go two feet on the internet without observing UNC fans furiously sucking themselves and each other off, assaulting the mind, body, and spirit of the rest of the human race with their feeble "command" of the English language. They're an entire colony of grab-ass retards patting themselves on the back and taking potshots from the highest of high horses.

"State fans ned to quit whinning about calls and go back to tracktor racin HA" - BABYBLEW_ALLDAWAY

From what I've been told, the 15 scholarships over 5 years won't be shit. According to my friend, those 5 scholarships/year can be pulled from anywhere. So they can recruit their full 25 person class and drop 5 older/existing players who aren't doing shit, as long as their roster <=80.

It still hurts their depth.

And we, of all fanbases, ought to appreciate the value of depth.

Nope...they have to sign a full class, then drop the 5 highest rated recruits each year for three years...

Seriously...what the fuck kind of restrictions do you think they could put on that??

Does the loss of scholarships have to be 5 each year? Let's say they are 6 under the limit next year. Does that leave 9 for the last 2?

^^uh, drop new scholarships by 5/year, dumbass. that is reasonable and very doable.
^^^sure, but not by much if they have 5 players on scholarship that turned out to be scrubs.

15 scholly is a huge hit. Who the fuck cares about post-season bans? That doesn't mean shit, the scholarship reduction is the real killer, ask Alabama in the 90s.

Of course they will appeal and get that reduced, but even if its 12 scholarships and probation, that's a helluva punishment IMO

in response to the scholarship reduction, it is from their recruiting class, not from players currently on the team, i.e. they should be only able to sign 20 per year, rather than 25. And that is a huge fucking hit.

It's called a "limit." You can do whatever you want as long as you don't go over the limit. It's not rocket science.

And it will effect them. It won't cripple them, but look at our problems with depth this year. If you would have added 5 reduced scholarships to our injuries, we would have been playing the water boy at defensive tackle.

It also effects your recruiting. You can't give as many offers and have to be pickier and not go on potential as much. You might put all your eggs in one basket because you know you can't fuck around...and if that guy doesn't come, you're SOL and thin at that position.

I would have liked 18-20 schollies...but 15 will put a dent in their team.

15 scholarships over five years means instead of 25/year and 85 total, they are subject to 20/year and 80 total for three years.

They can't sign 25 and cut 5 cruddy seniors.

I think they should put limits on recruiting trips, OVs, etc as well as a scholarship ban anytime a team gets in trouble recruiting. Not only will that hurt the number of players signed, but also the quality.

Scholarships are renewed on a yearly basis, they aren't multi-year contracts. There is no way for the NCAA to enforce what you're crying for.

lol. We all know that if this were State that the North Carolina Attorney General and the University of North Carolina Board of Governors would deem the penalties not harsh enough and they would further impose all kinds of penalties.

I thought it was slightly weak as well. While I had hoped for the death penalty, I knew that it would probably be a slap on the wrist. The one year bowl ban was good, but I was hoping for a 2-3 year bowl ban. Might have been a bit optimistic though.

Boss today was talking about how harsh it was. And if "Jimmy V had done what he did today, he wouldn't have been allowed to be Athletic Director".

I had to correct him on a few finer points, and he still bought my lunch. Score.

Damn. That tutor must be pretty well connected if Joe Cheshire is representing her free of charge.

Also, my former law professor (Broome) is quoted. She's a kick-ass professor, and represents UNC on quite a few NCAA boards.

How can you feel bad for the tutor?

Boo hoo, people on internet message boards are talking shit about you. Maybe if you got some balls and at a minimum made a statement to the media during all the allegations then people wouldn't assume you were 110% guilty. I don't feel bad for her one bit.

REALLY? she wrote whole fucking paragraphs! She was a tutor yet didn't know that wasn't allowed? Did she attend Nyang'oro's tutoring class or something? jesus

and then she paid almost 2000 for a player's parking tickets, and she didn't know that wasn't allowed? if she didn't know that, then they need to investigate the FUCK out of the athlete tutoring program at UNC, because what the fuck else do the tutors "not know is wrong"?

I like how her lawyer tries to make it seem like she was the victim and didn't do anything that bad...but there was not any explanation from the lawyer for this part:

Quote :
"She also paid a $150 airline ticket change fee so a player could return from spring break early. She also made a one-time payment of $1,789 to settle a player’s overdue campus parking tickets. It was unclear whether she was reimbursed."

no quote from the lawyer or anything. i'd like to hear him (or wiley) try to explain away that part.

I'm hopin this shit is gonna end up like the McAdoo case and we get MORE information released which causes the NCAA to have to take another look. really, as undergrad/new teacher, she paid 2000 to pay off a player's tickets? where the fuck did she get that money, cause she sure as fuck shouldn't have that kind of disposable income as an undergrad, much less as a new teacher
