apparently the parents had called the police to take the gun away a week or so earlier, they determined he legally owned it, but got a family-friend or something to come get it. apparently he got it back.

It's the reason why I think DeSantis is inherently more dangerous than Trump. DeSantis can keep his mouth shut when he needs to and is more effective at working the political levers to get closer to authortianship. DeSantis took control of gerrymandering (even rejecting the FL Legislatures already heavily gerrymandered maps), formed his 'election security police', advocating for shit like 'stop woke' laws, etc. He and Trump likely want the exact same things, but DeSantis will drastically better at getting it done.

So do I think an ultra MAGA candidate like Trump, MTG, Boebert, etc who is WAY more likely to scare away moderates and right center candidates? Sure. Would I advocate for having Dems try to prop them up in primaries? Honestly, not sure, probably a case-by-case basis.
