Any word on Wilson?
I checked the last 3 pages, but don't want to check the whole thread.

I live down in SC, about an hour from Columbia. Lots of Cock fans here at work. Most of them haven't really even talked any trash to me today. It is like they feel sorry for our team for being so pathetically horrible on offense.
One guy said to me "I feel bad for that backup guy Evans because he looked scared the whole game. How the hell does he get to play. He is awful". I pretty much just said yeah he sucks and he's sucked for the past three years outside of two games in 06.

So, I'm not too familiar with concussion injuries.
How long does it usually take to recover from a Grade 3 concussion? How effective will he be when he comes back? What will happen to him if he takes another big hit like that (with him being the mobile QB that he is)?
Found some info here on concussions and recovery time: message_topic.aspx?topic=539325

From the 'william and mary' thread:
Quote : | "According to the wikipedia article (as has already been said twice) even with a grade III concussion as long as it's his first concussion he theoretically could be back playing within 1-2 weeks, if it is not his first, then he's pretty much out for the season or at least a month or two.

Also WRAL is reporting that it is just a concussion and confirmed no spinal injuries8/29/2008 5:05:09 PM |

I did ... and i played the next week, but then the good ole boy coaches saying walk it off also soft casted my wrist for an entire season instead of going to the doctor and now I have about 50% function in my left wrist (for example i can't do more than 10-15 pushups at a time and it still hurts to open doors with my left hand) soooo I vote he takes a week or two and recovers. 8/29/2008 7:51:29 PM |

People forget this was a 3-0 ballgame at halftime. Also South Carolina's defense is probably close to top 10 in the land. Our defense looked really good when the game was still on the line. It was just one game, we expected to lose and did. Nothing lost but players to injury. 8/29/2008 7:53:15 PM |

^ would've been 0-0 if evans haden't handed it to them at the 12 yard line. 8/29/2008 9:27:47 PM |

^ That fumble that led to the 1st SC field goal was not Evans fault. It was a just plain horrible snap. Now the INT that led to the first TD was about the worst pass in NCAA history. 8/29/2008 10:18:39 PM |

I thought we'd score 10 or so and hold them under 21.
Without our turnovers we could have held them under 21. And how the fuck do you GET 4 turnovers AND NOT SCORE.. GD IT 8/30/2008 12:42:50 AM |

this is why i've never given in to the notion that "Defense Wins Championships"
No, no it doesn't. A balanced team with a great defense and a great offense wins championships. South Carolina won't win shit this year unless they find a QB and an offensive line. Same with us. You can't have just one part of the equation and be a consistent winner. Look at our 2004 and 2005 teams.
In 2004, Rivers' senior year, we had one of the best offenses in college. We put up 30+ just about every game that season, yet our defense couldn't stop Helen Keller running down the field.
Then look at 2005. #1 Defense in the land, yet our offense couldn't put up consistently good enough numbers and we're sitting at home after Christmas.
I'm very proud of the way our defense played last night. They will be very good this year with the opportunity to be GREAT next year with potentially the only people we lose being Gray, Holmes and Neal. But until our offense gets to where it can move the ball and put up points, we'll never do anything.
Now i know that i haven't told anyone anything they didn't already know, but i had to get that off my chest. 8/30/2008 1:06:25 AM |

Isn't the full saying "Offense wins games, defense wins championships"?
If so, that second part kind of comes with the assumption that you have a solid offense. 8/30/2008 1:08:43 AM |

^^^^ Look, sports fans aren't very smart. You can't expect them to critically think about cliches that make them look tough in front of their peers. Everyone with a brain knows that good offense goes farther than good defense.
Football is a game where the rules give the offense and advantage by default. It's much easier for unmatched and evenly matched teams to separate themselves using offense.
