Are there REALLY that many more kidnappings? Or does it just seem like it because you can now hear about a kidnapping in Washington state on CNN. 30 years ago, you would only know what is reported in your local paper, or maybe USA Today. Now, you just have easy access to "all the bad."

The black guy in office is what got all the Billy Bobs off their couches and into the voting booths. Trump just rode the racist backlash wave. Normal Republican politicians woulda done some wink-wink racist stuff, but Trump went all in, and many of his supporters adore him for it.

There's no doubt that many Trump supporters are full-on racists. There's also no doubt that uppity progressives shouting down to the world aren't helping matters much.

I don't think I'm disagreeing with you, but I do think it's impossible to separate Obama's influence from Trump. Trump-as-president doesn't happen without Obama being president.

I agree. Just want to add that divorce rates went up, and the 70s/80s kidnapping spike was primarily due to custodial disputes, for which the courts weren't prepared. Pair that documented "spike" in kidnappings with a handful of horrifying 24hr news stories...and parents pretty much lost their minds.

Like every other trump supporter I know except 1, this person has been completely silent on trump until this point.

The people who are vocal about trump’s presidency are lost causes... these are the people who thought family separation was cool until trump paid lip service to reunifying families and then suddenly they were supporting that.
